Sources for non-corrupt investing advice

6 posts in this topic

All of this talk about about potential stock market chaos under Trumps administration makes me nervous. I have got some money, not a lot put into widespread fonds. I wanted it to be as safe as possible. Now I fear that I could loose money but I dont think that cash is a good option either because of inflation. Generally I am just looking for advice from people who know this stuff. It's generally said that you should always think for yourself but in terms of investing I am honest about my own ignorance, I have no idea what clever investing would be right now and I am not interested in making a deep study in this dry domain. If I could find people with integrity who give investing advice I would very much be interested.

It's not that complicated actually. Just avoid anything in the AI / crypto sector. That thing is going to crash hard. It will affect other sectors as well and will have a domino effect, but nobody knows when. The solid companies will only crash about 20-30% and then rebound and keep going. Others will crash 90%. If you don't want to miss any potential gains, then buy dividend stocks, bonds, and gold. Search for "Ray Dalio all weather portfolio"

I suggest looking up Ben Filex on YouTube. He has a great channel and a podcast that is all about smart decision-making and investing based on models and principles, rather than fad and FOMO. You can start with his older videos. Unlike other technical analysts, he does claim that he can beat the market or that he has a crystal ball that will make you rich. He is investing in productive assets, not gold or crypto, but global market ETFs, with the addition of a couple of uncorrelated risk ETFs. I copied his "Model Portfolio" and it has been working well for me over the years.

Investment is a long-haul game, don't let that clownery scare you and pull out your investment. The evidence shows that most people who invest long term (regardless of economic circumstances) usually earn as a result of compound interest. I think the aggregate yield, based on some studies done in the past on people investing into index funds (DJI, S&P etc)  on average, was about 15-21% when investing over 10 years but I'd have to look up the exact details to be sure, it might have been slightly less. Even if you look at the long term trend of most index funds, they grow, despite monthly fluctuations.

Speculative withdrawals and investments will most likely cost you because you probably don't have the skills and the knowledge necessary to compete with traders and trading organisations (most of us don't).

Reading Benjamin Graham is a good intro into stage Yellow investing, into understanding how the market works and why you can't beat it in the long term.

I agree with the other commenters that education is what's gonna save you in this game but I disagree on the points on crypto. Crypto is a revolutionary technology that's gonna change the world and eventually beat out fiat currency. Do your own research though, don't take my word for it.

I recommend this the first 9 episodes of this, it's a series by Robert Breedlove and Michael Saylor; it'll make you understand the fundamental value of cryptocurrency and how money is just energy safeguarded through time and space.
