Amazing song. Kendrick speak on his past lives and then speaks with God in second half.

I really like the back and forth of whether or not he loves "war" when he claims to want peace. Peace would require consciously knowing "every individual is only a version of you", and as we all know, fully consciously being aware of nonduality at all times is not exactly easy. Therefore, even if you do claim to want peace, it really will always be a surface level understanding of it. Being in duality will always technically mean being in love of war since others are separate from you, whether or not you like it.

That’s because it’s worthless drivel.

Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head… And as I climb into an empty bed, oh well, enough said… I know it’s over, still I cling, I don’t know where else I can go… Over…

The Awareness, of being always aware of the nonduality at all times, that cannot be manifested or brought about directly, it has to be the residual result or consequence of setting up the "playing field" per say, you set the atmosphere up in your own system so that Awareness is naturally arising, for eg if You truly Realize we are all one, individual Bodies and  Minds yes, but that is not what we are, in what we are we are all One, if that is truly realized then Awareness comes naturally..Once that is in place, no War is possible...

@Hojo  I was introduced to him as a teen by someone who really broke down his lyrics for me, and it opened my eyes to how outstanding his writing is. He is the first rapper to receive a Pulitzer prize-- for his album DAMN. I would at least read his lyrics if you cannot follow it in a song. A lot of his songs touch upon morality and spirituality. Though I'm not so sure if it's a blue or yellow stage view of things...honestly I think he touches upon red through yellow in the spiral... still great.

True yes. Though l feel like most people have only experienced mere touches of what that is like, and embodying it in your everyday existence is a whole other thing. For some, those limited experiences can be enough to make some drastic changes at the least, and it seems to be what Kendrick is contemplating.

Kendrick Lamar is known as a conscious rapper. In his album to pimp a butterfly he speaks about conscious suffering.
another album I’d suggest

Mr.Morale and the big steppers. This is a more in depth version of spirituality and suffering.

The album Good kid, mad city is also good

Another album I’d suggest is Damn

Kendrick Lamar creates stories within his albums.

might be biased, because I enjoy his work, but I’ve found truth in his music, I’ve found my own connection with spirituality being intertwined with music. And his delivery speaks to me.

GNX is still being digested for me. Kendrick’s mind is interesting to me. No body expected this album.

Kendrick always has an idea and direction of how and where an album will be directed

to me this is an inside to kdot’s (Kendrick Lamar’s) thoughts. And how they feel.

it was interesting digesting that perspective and hearing their anger and frustration.

kendrick is a conscious philosopher

It's interesting because we had an administrator/professor come into my university classroom last year to talk about how many do not have English as a first language, so they get marked down on papers due to grammatical/punctuational/spelling errors etc., even though you could technically still understand what they are trying to say. They would argue lots of poor education standards in certain areas of the U.S. also account for this, even in English speakers. So unless the class is purely an English writing class, the professor will not be allowed to mark someone down in let's say... a history class paper for grammar/punctuation/spelling etc., and if you do you can dispute the grade with the dean.

Of course, every body of system, whether a university or a forum, can make up it's own rules about stuff like this. I would argue that in this forum, if you specifically highlight that your post is an "art form", you should be able to forgo the rules of punctuation and capitalization. Obviously a Kendrick Lamar song, or any song, doesn't need to follow those rules...

I remember in college my teacher bringing up the topic about proper grammar

we spoke about the difference of proper grammar and living with broken English.

I think in the west we have these standards to proper sentences, spelling,  grammar. And use that as a standard to measure “intelligence” where English is looked at objectively.
Cultures and the way people express themselves are a whole other ball park of perspective.

That even if it looks different that doesn’t necessarily mean there was an absence of intelligence.

the way people express themselves differs in each individual. The way we communicate and express ourselves comes in so many facets and shapes.

I think people should be allowed to express themselves with or without proper grammar.

this is quite literally other planets living

I say planets in our realities and perspective. Live within us. And I don’t believe in having it in one way, because to me that feels like a limitation to how we express ourselves.

I am purposely thinking of those who aren’t native to English speaking.

Yes starting points, we have to start where we are at right now...There are layers upon layers to this stuff, start tiny steps and see where it takes one...

Communication and being social in general is a game with rules. If you don't know how to play the game, people will be unhappy with you. It's not as much about grammar as knowing how to be social and follow a set of rules.

And if you are unwilling to follow the rules, you are either lazy or a delinquent. And if you are unable to learn the rules, you are either disabled or unintelligent. These are generalizations, but all in all, a lack of rule-following (e.g. proper grammar) is generally not good.

But of course, people with bad grammar hang out with other people with bad grammar, and for them, it's within the rules of the game, so it's not seen as a problem for them. Which rules to follow are dictated by the people you hang out with (hence why Leo made that post about what rules he wants us to follow).

Communications is not a game. neither does communication have rules.  Even without perfect grammar. Sentences can still be understood and interpreted.
do you really think people come onto this forum for work? Or to be critiquing/graded for the way they communicate? When I was mentioning grammar. Keep in mind the context which is Kendrick Lamar’s music. And the way he speaks; a lot of people refuse to interpret it, because of the way he expresses himself.
Those generalizations is exactly what I talk about when people equate intelligence to grammar. It’s just a structure. Nothing more.
This deep rooted belief that, just because you speak different somehow makes people “lazy” or a “ delinquent” is just absolute insanity.
These generalizations are harmful. And often times undermines people because of those assumptions.
It’s how i communicate.
Not to mention about your ableism. That’s so insulting and disrespectful to those who struggle with disabilities.

Get off your high horse.

Me either, until I realized that I am taking what he says too literally and spinning my own biases and prejudices onto it, thereby corrupting the original message.

I even notice myself saying that I can’t understand him because he’s black. Which is definitely racist.

I made a perfectly fluent point about the context.

It depends on the context.

They are pretty explanatory for why people expect proper grammar in certain situations.

I just explained why some people don't like improper grammar. No need to be offended.

That wasn’t an explanation that was a generalization
