How do your insights work?

14 posts in this topic

Is it like one and done. You have the insight and it’s clarity. Or is it more like you have to come back to it again and again. And tackle it from different angles etc. Because old beliefs are stubborn and sometimes seemingly stuck in the body?

We basically just sit there all day connecting and disconnecting neurons until one clicks and we instantly know its valuable information.

I'd say its like those baby toys with triangle and square and circle parts and holes we just keep trying until one falls in and then insight . Or that's how I find mine.

@PurpleTree

Thoughts occur within existing knowledge and beliefs, there is nothing new there.

When circumstances are facilitated to accommodated for something new, pieces of the vast unknown enter awareness.

Often the unknown makes no sense and we do not pick up on it or reject it.

Sometimes there's something attractive there but it's slippery, it can feel profoundly in one moment but that being fleeting and after a few moments it's gone and it's not possible to see what it was that felt so profound.

And then, there are the moments where unknown solidifies as new understanding, shifting the existing foundation from where the unknown can be explores and understood.

It's an iterative process, no understanding is ever complete or arrive all once.

Consistently returning into the unknown and being deliberate and curious about that unknown is key.

Outward or Inward exploration of the unknown.

Learning how to facilitate unknown exploration also is key. Oftentimes (not to say always) it requires external influence as what we think always show up within the existing knowledge, understanding and beliefs.

We have to be "slapped" outside of that known frame of reference.

Also growing comfortable with staying out there, in the unknown, more and more will accelerate frequency and depth of insights.

It's inherently challenging by nature, as it's rejecting known to allow letting in what's new.

Since it's an iterative process it needs dipping toes into, over and over, and with time conceptual understanding will be built, and over time conceptual understanding will to degrees manifest into ones being, ever shifting who we experience ourself as being.

Personally, I have no idea where my insights come from or even how to induce them. They just come to me at totally random moments when I am deep in thought or between thoughts, or sometimes when I am working on something completely unrelated. Best advice I can give  to you if you want to have good deep insights is just study and think deeply about things you are curious about, and do so playfully. Don't worry too much if epiphanies don't hit you left and right like Leo describes in his video. Just explore, don't stress!

I find that I’m able to connect a shape to an unexpected hole. Even if I am a triangle, I find a way to squeeze into a circle perfectly.

Good epistemology + pure observation + deep contemplation hones intuitive faculties where patterns are noticed by the subconscious and sends them up to the conscious for processing.

”The internal process begins with deliberate observation, which provides the intuitive faculty with a rich foundation of raw data. Over time, patterns begin to emerge through intuition—subtle connections and relationships that are not immediately accessible to conscious thought. These patterns eventually surface in moments of clarity, often experienced as a "click," where everything suddenly aligns and makes sense. At this point, the conscious mind evaluates the insight for validity and refines it into something actionable. This process, driven by the emergence of understanding through intuition, becomes sharper and more effective with consistent observation and reflection.”

If truth is the guide, there's no need for ideology, right or left.

Maturity in discussion means the ability to separate ideas from identity so one can easily recognize new, irrefutable information as valid, and to fully integrate it into one’s perspective—even if it challenges deeply held beliefs. Both recognition and integration are crucial: the former acknowledges truth, while the latter ensures we are guided by it.

Hell no.

It's endless murkiness and contemplation.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Come back to it again and again.

I have a VHS video of me as a kid saying “again again” over and over again while I was playing with my toy. Little me was onto something :o
