Smart people voted for Trump

A bit of a clickbait---

What I've been trying to wrap my head around for weeks is why otherwise intelligent thought-leaders threw their support behind Trump. 

@Leo Gura, your recent post about political lessons riled me up to post this.

In the past couple years I've had the fortune of meeting Owen Cook several times. Cool, quirky guy. Taught me a lot.

However, he put out a couple of videos earlier in the year that sent off alarm bells in the pit of my stomache.

"No f*cking way," I thought. This guy is... a Trumper.

Here are the videos. 

You'll notice in these videos, he didn't outright say he supported Trump. But if you're aware enough, it'll be obvious.

Own is a self-proclaimed individualist. After being the closest person to Julien-gate (outside of Julien himself), he must have gotten the idea in him that "oh shit, they can take me down at any minute."

Which to be fair to him, is true.

And that's the problem. Owen sees Trump as the best option for getting him to a place where he can post what he really wants. For proof, here's a recent chat between us [attached].

At the end of the day, he is looking out for himself and he's afraid of his own freedoms. This of course, at the expense of all the disastrous shit Trump is going to do when he resumes power.

And that's the problem, not just with Owen, but with Rogan, Lex, JP, and the other bros who hopped on the train. They would rather ride the bro-train then actually stand for the truth. That's why Lex and Rogan sucked Trump's dick in their interviews. Never challenged him once.

I stopped following Owen and his teachings months ago and I don't regret it. Still a great guy with life-changing content. But the political crap was a selfish mistake. Time will tell.

As I keep saying, mankind's capacity for self-deception is infinite. Doesn't matter how smart you are or whatever other BS you think will keep you safe.

Pickup has corrupted Owen's mind. That's the natural cost of devoting your life to manipulating women for sex. This should be obvious. As a Christian Owen should know that lust is one of the 7 deadly sins.

@WonderSeeker the reason is the economy and survival.   Whether true or not the perception was that a new President could bring about a better economy.   Ultimately. The people want a better economy for survival purposes.

Damn, why is it we can't get away with endless pleasure whilst keeping our mind free from devilry and corruption? 

Seems God designs us to create our own mental traps and fall prey to them at the same time. It's an ingenious design..

But isn’t that what “smart” people are voting against (not so much for) -  a state or social culture being held hostage to a mainstream narrative that can’t be challenged.

We call state overreach authoritarian, and social overreach a social contagion that uses shaming and cancel culture as its weapon to enforce ideological purity.

Isn’t policing language and micro aggressions overreach? Isn’t it normal for people to think - “they can take me down any minute”.

Didn’t they shut down small-medium business whilst allowing the big fish to stay open in Covid? Didn’t they allow sub-prime mortgages to sink people economically and bail out the same banks that did so - with public money! Is saying that men can give birth - including having a emoji depicting so - Truth!

The way we refer to political sides is through their mascots - people just say I’m voting Trump of Kamala - but what if a lot of people aren’t voting for Trump but for the team around him and against the establishment around Kamala - including what they stand for.

“He’s afraid of his own freedoms” - is that a bad thing?

When a state and society starts being overly restrictive (whether it’s conservatives or wokies doing the restricting) - the natural response is to side with the side one who will unburden them from those restrictions.

In the words of Kamala - to be unburdened by what has been 😂

Of course, not all freedom is freeing, nor are all restrictions restricting. Some freedoms are given up for larger freedoms - some restrictions can be more freeing than some so called freedoms.

But the general sense among many people is that some essential freedoms have been breached - and so they swing to the side that claims to uphold them.

Big tech corruption is a blind spot of the left. Everyday people get blocked from 1 or more of these platforms with no way to resolve it.

Spot on. There's a lot of fear in the air about money insecurity these days.

I partially agree. In my own estimation, big-tech corruption is apolitical. Meaning, shit gets censored both ways.

That "claims" to uphold them. A Trump presidency might free people like Owen up more. But if you take the collective all together, I don't have high hopes for the next 4 years. Oh well, at least some people's morale's will be up even if it's total delusion.

It's more about emotions than about intellect.

Someone with a strong intellect can use that intellect to trick themselves into ignoring issues with Trump... simply because Trump hits some emotional button for them.

My guess is that he's in this community of men, who are largely right-leaning. And that's who respects him and where he has status.

And he's gotten influenced by his environment that's very pro-Trump.

He also could just be kind of anti-Feminine in general. Anyone who hates the Feminine, will want to vote Trump because Trump and the right wing movement is about controlling and eradicating the Feminine from society in any and all ways.
