How will the world survive with this current media landscape?

@Inliytened1 The US had the strongest post-pandemic economy in the world.  The entire world went through an economic down turn and to blame that on the presidential administration is foolish, especially when the US economy faired far better than every other developed nation.  What else was the Biden administration supposed to do specifically?

In addition, the CHIPs act and the Inflation Reduction Act will greatly help the US economy in the long run, but plans like this take years before the effects can be felt, but American’s are incapable of thinking long term.

For one thing inflation went though the roof.   And I agree that inflation can't fully be blamed on the Biden administration.  But their last stimulus package was not necessary by most economists and in fact led to an increase in inflation overall.   So there's that.  Unemployment was down but without a good economy that really doesn't matter much.

Thing is what will the democrats and Harris do?  If the current four years were abysmal for the population what's to say the next four years won't be?  She stood up and said she wouldn't do anything different.  This did her in unfortunately.

That's misleading. She only said that she wouldn't have done anything differently than Biden just that one time. She campaigned a lot on a number of things that would've been progressive leaning such as:

  • building affordable housing at a mass scale for lower-income and middle-class folk
  • Expand Medicare to provide home care to help families who are struggling with the costs of long-term care, vision, and hearing
  • Expand Medicare to negotiate even more drugs
  • Raise corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%
  • Universal Pre-K
  • renew and extend the child tax credit
  • Paid Family Leave
  • Continue addressing climate change
  • Pass a nationwide abortion rights bill
  • Voting rights Act for racial minorities, ending gerrymandering, and getting dark money out of politics

and more

Actually, the top independent economists said that Biden’s stimulus bill turned out to be the least to blame for inflation.

The main reasons for inflation were:

Global supply disruptions, the war in Ukraine which caused a major oil price shock, the Federal Reserve being very late with handling inflation, and corporate profiteering.

As I told you, your grandparents lived through WW2 and your parents the Cold War.

Bad things always come and go. You are getting hysterical and failing to properly contextual events in world history.

Chronocentrism.

Reminds me of how every financial guru ad starts with, "This is the biggest wealth transfer in history; it’s the only time in your life to get rich."

@Hardkill Half the country does not want a woman president. The democrats pick a woman. Great job def gunna win. Really stuck it to the haters there by giving no choice and just letting your team pick a random person that half the country is sexist against. They threw on purpose or to show a moral high ground.

@Hardkill You are failing to put it into context.

The context is that mankind has always been like this, and much worse. Life always goes on.

True. Reading the book " The Dawn Of Everything" By David Graeber and David Wengrow.

Humans are Slaving each other since the Dawn of Times. Appaling to know that even before White people slave the North American Indigenous the indigenous were slaving themselfs already. Karma is a Bitch.

Thank you.

Now, Even if this sentiment for anti-mainstream populism is relatively short-lived, what about the dominance of conservative messaging that continues to metastasize in this media landscape? How from a practical standpoint can centrist liberals win against conservatives/Republicans again at this point?

@Hardkill Look man, the situation is very bad.

But life goes on regardless.

We do this work not for the good times but for the bad. Life is serious business.

Yeah, I get that now....

but half of the country, including good people like you and me, don't deserve this at all.

Besides, working on my life purpose and self-development how am I going to be able to fight back against the upcoming tyranny?

Aren't you afraid that Trump and MAGA could come after people like you and take away everything you've accomplished?

I hope that no crazy Trump supporter or anybody in the Trump administration finds out where I live.

I'm starting to see some validity in the 2nd amendment, especially now.

This is how many people have felt regarding the left / Dems / establishment coming after them for not towing the party line or presenting a challenge to the orthodoxy. Jordan Peterson, Bret Weinstein, JK rowling - all their fiascos revolved around this, and these are just the more notable names. The pervasiveness of this stretches from academia to social media, from corporations to mainstream entertainers.

Your ''side'' cancel, censor, lecture, and condescend. They wield moral superiority like a hammer, dismissing dissent as ignorant or bigoted. They can get someone memory holed from the internet and destroy careers with a hashtag. They can turn the entire media apparatus into a synchronized chorus singing whatever tune serves the establishment.

The left are blind to this cultural authoritarianism, because power not only corrupts but blinds those who have it.

The right naturally put their efforts into alternative media because the mainstream platforms were hostile to them. It’s the same reason on a macro geopolitical level - BRICS is forming an alternate financial system parallel to the Western system  - because the West abuses and weaponises it through sanctions and seizure of assets - utterly suffocating multipolarity just like how the establishment suffocate domestic political plurality of opinions - causing utter polarity as a result!

So move then. There are 194 other countries in this world.
