Receiving Oral safely, herpes risk?

14 posts in this topic

If you at some point have had mouth herpes (like 50% of people) what is the risk to spread it from mouth to genitals? Let's say you don't have an oral outbreak at the time of oral sex.

Do you guys have oral sex without protection?

@Value Once you have it you always have it. Its just sleeping when its not showing. The risk might go down if its not showing but you can still get it and it can spread around other holes on your body from mouth to genital.

It says wearing a condom will help stop spread.

I have never worn a condom getting or receiving oral that sounds weird and lame but I don't have herpes.

To be honest, I think it would be a bit dangerous for the receiving man to wear a condom during oral sex. It seems like a choking hazard.

But you wouldn't be able to catch genital herpes from someone with mouth herpes unless they have an active infection. And you can usually see it when a person has a cold sore.

But you can also ask the person if they have a cold sore if you're concerned.

Always without protection.

Only for penetration i use condom and even then, if I had sex regularly with the same person, I will very soon go raw.

I know it has risks but I assume those risks, sex without a condom is that much better and intimate.

The condom could come off and get stuck down the throat of the person who's giving the oral sex.

Unless she / he has a flareup or had one recently, then you're mostly fine. That goes both ways as herpes can be genital as well.

Quite unlikely. Never happened to me. It's more likely to come off during regular sex. In oral, you hold the base if he's small as that's when it can get a bit tricky; but getting lodged in the throat isn't likely. Not impossible but not likely.

I had always assumed that it would be a major choking risk. But I stand corrected.

The choking risk is in the act itself.....in a big way - Pun intended 😅

It was just something that I'd always assumed to be the case. But I never really questioned the assumption. So, I tend to be pretty receptive to new information if I feel like I'm operating off of assumption and not really informed about a topic.

But I'll argue people to death about things that I've thought about deeply and thoroughly... and if it's a hill that I'm willing to die on.

It's just on this particular forum, I tend to engage mostly with posts that involve hills that I'm willing to die on. I come here mostly to spar because everyone here wants to spar on the same hills either on the same side or opposite.

Interesting overview. We live in an assumptive world. We're just going around assuming things, myself included. We don't normally question our assumptions. This is what leads to apparent delusions. This is what actually makes a forum like this survive; and this is why there are so many disagreements and different responses to things. Most of the disagreements and responses are only illuminating the separate individuals' dream world, so they're not really incorrect. It's their lived reality. That's why they can seem to go on forever and never gets resolved. How does one come to a resolution that involves different lived realities.

You've actually just admitted that you'll argue someone over a thought, which is quite interesting; and reveals a lot about that argument. Thinking something through is still just that, thoughts. So, all that's happening in that case, is thought's arguing with thoughts. I'm not trying to sound woo woo, but showing how the dream makes itself seem so real. Thinking through something deeply and thoroughly doesn't make it true, all it does is reinforces thought upon thought. What happens is the thoughts now start to make sense in succession and solidifies the story and now the person has successfully created a construct. It's interesting seeing how constructs gets created in real time. Thought I'd share.
