why don't we fall into deep sleep when we die in our dreams?

13 posts in this topic

My Einstien mind has been thinking about this:

We know of three states of consciousness that we all can directly access.

1. Waking State
2. Dreaming State
3. Deep Sleep State

When we die in our dreams, fall from a building, or someone choked or frightened, why do we come to a waking state rather than going to deep sleep? Does this indicate when and if we die in the waking state, we naturally go to a lower state of consciousness (as per law)?

Yes thats why they say quiet the mind. The whole purpose is to calm your soul so that when it hits the void its just deep sleep. If you can accomplish this you will respawn instantly. Death will be as fast  and as easy as your deep sleep felt last night. The problem is you have to delete your fake person you made up in this dream.

There is a void between worlds. Notice life awake sleep void dream void awake. When you go to sleep you die then start spiritually living then die then come back here.

When you dream then die you go to the void again you just forget it cause its literally instantaneous. God is an instantaneous experience of forever. You stay there as long as you struggle with the fact that you exist forever alone. When you go to sleep you accept that you are going to die cause you label it as sleep but you are experiencing death and do it unconciously like you experience life unconciously. It will be alot harder to do peacefully when your entire existence and everything you know about it starts disintegrating in your awareness.

How does this have to do with the previous information?

My guess is that the scary scenario in your dream makes your heart beat faster signaling danger so you wake up. Also consider that you only remember a dream if you wake up after it. If you continue sleeping then you won’t remember it so maybe you have many dreams where you continue sleeping after but since you can’t remember them it seems like it doesn’t happen. Maybe I’m wrong

funny, i just pondered something similar due to dream experiences the other day. you've literally died a thousand times in your dreams. everytime a dream ends, thats a death. the character of the dream is gone forever, vanished.

im fairly certain real death is not that different from ending a dream

When you die in your dream you wake up in reality.

Similarly when you die in this life dream you wake up to The Ultimate Reality.

You make a good point that when we don't die in the dream we continue sleeping and go to deep sleep. It seems that when we die in dreams we wake up to our current/waking reality, and when we wake up from the deep sleep, we also wake up to the current reality, and maybe it is an indication of the full circle that this current reality is both the lowest and highest at the same time, kind of non-dual awakening.

Without external substance, these three states are accessible to every person.

@Yimpa Yes, every tradition has Trinity in one way or the other, there might be some truth to it.

The real question is, what if the life is a real dream and you can not be able to wake up? Except enlightment?
