Challenge my motivation to eat a vegan diet

I don’t know which companies do it, and exactly which method. But I’ve heard that organic and grass fed means the circumstances for the animals are better. And in Sweden where I live there are certain regulations around how to kill the animals.

Yeah well, from what I've studied all of it is basically just bullshit greenwashing.

There are 2 basic methods of how animals are killed in a "humane way":

1. Electrocuting them to knock them out, and then slicing their throat
2. Using a stun gun (basically a hammer propelled by air) to break their skull and knock them out, and then slicing their throat.

Both methods are painful by themselves and very ineffective at actually knocking animals out. I've seen lots of videos of slaughterhouse workers having to shoot / shock them repeatedly many times for it to actually work.

That doesn’t sound too nice. I see your point. I don’t know how they do it here in Sweden though.

Killing is killing. Once you've justified killing even a microbe, knowingly or unknowingly you've justified killing to live in general. My points were:

1. Killing is unavoidable in order to live.

2. Eliminating meat entirely is not practicable.

3. It's good to avoid unnecessary killing.

Your input makes no difference to these points.

The gaslighting is insane.

1. Bullshit

2. Bullshit

3. Bullshit

To think that cramping pigs and cows into holding cells just centimetres larger than their bodies for their entire life, only to get slaughtered without proper anesthesia, and comparing that to accidently eating microbes, which by the way live casually on your skin is nothing short of brain dead. And yes, 95% of all meat is generated with immense amounts of cruelty and shameless exploitation.

Don't get me started on other aspects of animal cruelty like raping the cows and pigs to constantly produce off-spring, which they never get to see. Most normal standards for farm animals here in Germany (a so called developed country) are not above the concentration camps of german occupied Poland.

Go on and justify that with your logic.

Your nonsense needs to stop. I hope you will witness animal cruelty first-hands. It will send ice through your numbed out brain cells.

You're yet to say something that would invalidate any of my points.

@Something Funny My argument would be to stay omnivore but eat small but high quality animal products when you need to. This would be sustainable long term. Veganism is too radical, not necessarily the best for one's health, and likely to cause suffering to your mental health and wellbeing.

If you've fallen back a few times already, it is a sign that something isn't right. It would be good to get clearer on what you can do and feel able to do, rather than following strict rules you are not fully aligned with. Veganism and vegan minds are usually very strict, too strict to be sound.

The distinction between animal and plant is a human constriction.

The aforementioned statement will not cause any controversy.

I love it when people use spirituality when it's convenient for them to justify the shit they are doing.

Putin be like: death is imaginary, nowhere in the universe does it says that killing thousands of people is wrong. Distinction between a human and a bullet is a human constriction.

@Clarence nothing too radical about it. I've been eating vegan since I wrote that post and I am doing great.

@Something Funny, are you against the killings of animals that you don't see as abusive?

I should clarify that while I'm against abusing them, I'm not against killing them.

However, it won't be the end of the world for me if we are forced to not eat meat for a period of time in order to lessen the abuse.

@Nemra I see killing as abuse.

Are you bothered by animals killing other animals (as food) in nature?

Ok.

But do you realize that you cannot survive without killing?

If you don't eat meat, then your survival would depend on killing other things.

I would want to lessen the abuse before killing it or the killings that make them suffer unnecessarily long.

I think one solution to abolish killings of anything would be to find a way to create a symbiotic relationship with things without ever harming them. But I don't know if that's completely doable.

To be honest, I think what you are doing is right for you if you have never empathized that much with animals. Only focusing on doing the opposite could be a way to solve your situation.

Well are you bothered by lion (men) killing lion cubs of other lions? Would you be bothered if humans killed children of other humans to mate with them and have their own offspring?

If you read my post again carefully, you wouldn't have confused it with the responses that try to make you feel bad for not eating meat or justify why you should eat meat.

Also, we can't see bacteria in order to kill it willingly.
