What do you think about this? I remember @Leo Gura commenting on him interviewing right wingers and saying something like: "he just wants to be the biggest interviewer".

Looks like it's more than that for him.

Yeah, but it's just so pathetic. Like it really bothers me how pathetic all those famous people who switched sides are. I don't understand why you would want to do that if you already have so much money and success. Wouldn't you want to use it as a leverage to be free, express yourself, and do whatever you want?

I would honestly respect them more if they genuinely got brainwashed and believed in what they are saying.

He's always struck me as an opportunist climbing the ladder of fame and success, using charm to subtly signal virtue in nearly every expression. If the popular kids were on the left, he'd have struck you as left wing.

He signals virtue in every tweet, including this one. "Just be kind to people". What he's saying is "I care about kindness and I want everyone to be kind". He does this in nearly every tweet. He's the biggest virtue signaler I ever seen in my life. 😂

There's nothing inherently wrong with expressing you care about virtue, but when you build a brand on it while simultaneously embracing that which is diametrically opposed to it, that is what gives it away that he is just signaling it. He's full of shit. Whether he knows it or not is another question.

Also, the subtext of his tweet is: I'm with the right. Virtuous???

Unless I am missing something, "congresswoman" is not a pronoun.

And if we are going to treat it as one, then you might as well say that "US representative" is a "they/them" analogue. Which would make her even more "woke".

Not to mention that it takes a lot of assumptions to make this conclusion from one word in somebody's profile description.

Still, my assumption comment still applies, and saying "congresswoman" makes "she/her" redundant. I think you are making this mean way more than it does.

I don't have much to say about Lex Fridman as I don't even like him that much, but I can attest that certain things like pronouns do seem to be receding. Besides celebrities removing them from their bios, I'm hearing that a bunch of large companies are disabling the option in their MS Teams subscriptions that allowed employees to list their own pronouns. Something does seem to be changing in that regard.

I think it's more so what pronouns represent, which is something like a fanatical ideology. Or at least it's perceived that way, whether its adherents are actually crazy or not. Tolerance for that sort of thing has been diminishing, and it seems like everyone who once paid lip service would now rather distance themselves.

I actually agree with this. I hate to give out free advice, but it may be wise for those on the left to apply the old adage, "If you're not explicitly with me, you're against me." A ton of people have been too subtle with their stated allegiances, and it obscured the left from knowing who aligns where. I could have told you years ago that Lex Fridman leans in the direction of voting Trump. Same for a ton of other similar figures.
