You are correct; this universe was designed to perpetuate an endless cycle of suffering.

Seeing this, the spiritual student turns inward and searches for a way out.

 

He is amazed that spiritual teachers have agreed on this one thing: life is suffering.

Then, they found that this life is a dream, an illusion. It was created to have opposite qualities to those that are in Heaven.

Finally, the student learns how to escape from this dream and end all dreaming forever -- by simply being still and silent.
