Thoughts on Occupy Wallstreet Movement 2011?

"Occupy Wall Street (OWS) was a left-wing populist movement against economic inequality, corporate greed, big finance, and the influence of money in politics that began in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City's Financial District, and lasted for fifty-nine days—from September 17 to November 15, 2011"

This was seemingly a movement that so many people could get behind, it was seemingly uniting people. I‘ve even heard Joe Rogan say that he thinks bad actors were placed in these protests to disrupt and then break them up.

But since then things seemingly became so divisive with "culture wars" etc.

Speaking about Inequality. I recomemd to read this epic book

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56269264-the-dawn-of-everything#?ref=nav_comm

David Graeber was involved in Occupy, check some reviews on GoodReads .  So well, his book poses some good questions about the History of History. For example: What is inequeality? We use to romaticise a old past where humans were equals? Trully? What type of equality?

Occupy was maybe the last great movement imo together with the Arab Spring. (The women’s protest against the Iranian government was also great)

It was so influential that Musk now in 2024 is still wearing Occupy (Mars) shirts.

Whenever there is a movement or a person that can unite people of all races, parties etc. it‘s seemingly scary.
