I don't see meaning in life anymore

55 posts in this topic

The more clear headed I am, the more it seems like life is just a grand delusion, a distraction of the inevitable impermanence of ones own existence.

This has been on my mind recently. Everything is impermanent, it is clear to me now. But this creates a deep, existential lack of motivation for life itself. I don't care to pursue anything at this point. The whole game of life seems silly, redundant.

Everyone is getting hot and bothered about this and about that, but the fate of us all is the same no matter what we do in life, no matter what kind of political structure you will create, no matter how much well being or how much suffering you will experience, in the end there is the one that makes us all equal, that turns our lives, experiences, memories and all our meaning into dust.

Everything that will be gained will be lost, every joy and every pain is fleeting. I have no interest in romantic pursuits, career pursuits, life pursuits. I have no real desire for pleasure even, it seems fundamentally hollow. Life seems absurd to me.

This is a novel experience to me, but it seems to be truthful. It is as if a deep delusion, a coping mechanism had been lifted. Nothing matters.

Welcome to godhood . Welcome to woke territory .

Life is absolutely completely meaningless . All your efforts will go to vain by death . It's perfectly meaningless .nobody will ever win this game called life ..since everyone will die at the end . And you will take nothing with you to the grave.

That's half assed enlightenment. Aka nihilism.  Go full circle and realize that life is so fucking meaningless that there is no difference between meaningless and meaningful .

Let it die I say .

Good night  🌃

my mind is gone to a better place.  I'm elevated ..going out of space . And I'm gone .

What matters is that you are still living and you definately prefer an experience full of love instead of something else, and that becomes the driving force towards enlightenment. Yes form is meaningless, but if you operate from love even the meaningless dream begins to be meaningfull, if you feel love that’s all the meaning you need. And I find that the deepest love is not in the realms of form.

Nice. Meaning seems a bit silly anyway.

And there’s a me in meaning.

Again as with everything, there are layers and layers of levels to Existence, Meaning has its place, but when it comes to Realization of Reality as it Is, there is no Meaning, it is just there..

Meaning comes from things deep within us, if we had no meaning then we wouldn't care to survive and we all would not be here as our Species would have perished long long ago!  So on this sort of level its engrained within Us, but if You go higher up the Potential scale for Humans, sooner or later You have to drop the Meaning stuff... and just see Life the way it is in all its Glory and Beauty, if You keep the Meaning stuff You won't see it or experience it..but if You go that route then forget family and relationships, job, goals and such things, they will drop off too so tread carefully!

There is not meaning, just dance. dance like a dervish on the edge of an abyss, with the blue sky above his head. Flow with the flow, and dance with art. Only the beauty of the dance matters, it's depth and it's openenss, it's truth . Look to the abyss in the face and smile to it, you are at home, in the existence.

Then why you do you lose your beans when I post something from Robert Adams which is the epitome of spiritual nihilism? 😁

Exactly, the reality reveals itself as absolutely empty. The first time that you really realize that is extremely depressing, over all if you really see it. It's an abyss of nothing that opens in front of you. Everything is a mirage, and just under surface there is void, nothing. Then you realize that there is still you in the nothing, then you are the nothing. There is no meaningless life, is a meaningless you. Then you open your heart and you realize that the substance of your heart don't dissapear in the void of existence. It fills the infinite void because it's inexhaustible. In fact, it's the reality.

@Scholar how do you know that death ends everything.

It could be really possible to live on in the astral realm for king long time and yes you take your memory into the astral realm.

You're getting wiser by the minute :)

@Scholar. If you were lucid dreaming what would you do?  You would apply your own meaning....you would get lost in the game/dream.  So now my friend it's time to lose yourself again- but with a silver lining...  You now have the fallback of knowing it's all a game.  So when things get too stressful and too real you can always fall back on knowing the fact that its all a dream.  But what makes it so juicy is that it is real to you.    You haven’t gotten to that type of awakening yet but when you do it will be glorious and very much meaningful my friend.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you post in this forum subsection, Scholar. Good stuff.

What's your experience with classical esoteric practices? Have you ever had success in meditation or used psychedelics?

There's a process by which you can become "freed" from yourself. A type of rewiring of your identity, which breaks it away from an entanglement with your conceptual mind and into a blossoming of liberation into the part of you that's raw, unfiltered awakeness (consciousness).

When you reach that state, literally nothing is wrong in the world. And to go further, literally nothing is anything at that point. Concepts lose their hold, and you become a pure expression of existence itself, as clear as glass and fully alive. It's something that needs to be personally experienced to fully grasp, like the taste of an apple.

Have you ever listened to Sam Harris describe meditation and its eventual results? He may be more appropriate for you as a guide if you're into teachers who instruct from a rational viewpoint.

And if you're already aware of all this, I apologize for being redundant.

@Scholar

There's a subtle difference between meaningless and devoid of meaning.

Devoid of inherent meaning means that the character walking this illusion has the freedom to create whatever meaning makes that walking "fun", and engagement can flow into whatever aligns with that, that moment, when it shows up being indicated. And when it's not, there is no thought nor "cost" connected to it.

The paradox is that you are being free from the bondage of this illusion, not having to or needing to do anything. The freedom you gain from this is a non-attached stance that allows you to engage as seen fit in the moment without the costs attach otherwise. A choosing that can be the very same before and after inherent meaning falls away.

The very essence of "before.. chop wood, carry water - after chop wood, carry water".

While before and after in this example is the same, there is a qualitative different in the experiencing of, the meaning of the act, the way it is conducted, and the implications associated with it.

It simple is, because, why not...

@Scholar try doing middle pillar and inner smile mediation in the morning everyday. Brings in a lot of positivity and light. It makes life childlike again from me where a lot of things are very exciting.

Totally wrong. The greatest thing that  could ever possibly exist is the only thing that every possibly exist. Plus nothing is lost all information is always available to any soul that isn’t under delusions of confinement.

Yet you wake up in the morning and eat food and start moving for some reason. What is the abstract extension of that expression? Meaning. You've simply deconstructed the idea of an universal form of meaning, or maybe you are dissatisfied with your current position in life and extrapolate this sense of meaninglessness to all of reality. Regardless, what you then need is to identify your personal form of meaning which is tied to your innate drives and capacities. What are you really good at that you feel naturally drawn towards, as naturally as waking up in the morning and eating food? Pursue that and grow in that. To say that meaning is something you create is not quite accurate. It's rather that you sometimes have to go out of your way to discover it.

Intrinsic joy is revealed in the marriage of meaning and being.

Me too! I am realizing that Love is not the highest truth - the only thing that made my life worthwhile. Life just IS. It has no meaning.

It’s wild how much meaning we put on Everything as humans. And it’s mostly just a story.

There isn't inherent meaning. There is imputed meaning. It's imputed by you. It's up to you. Am I ego or am I god? Let me think. I have a choice. If I make the right one my life is one of meaning and purpose and service thereafter. I am the savior, I am the creator, I am the redemption. How could such lofty lives be meaningless.
