It has less to do with Trump winning and more to do with the democrats losing. The economy is bad in America and under Biden there has been 2 wars. 

The genocide in Palestine sent people over and Harris isn't a good speaker.  She doesn't stand for anything and doesn't have any charisma. 

The democrats had a chance with RFK and they wanted Harris instead.

The average voter isn't that aware of how the economy is really doing, what geopolitical tensions there are around the world, and they don't care about whether the US can maintain their hegemony on Earth or not. A big chunk of them are possibly living paycheck to paycheck and things have just worsened for them with the recent amount of inflation, loans being higher.

Most Americans are financially stuck and with the amount of stress in their lives, they don't have energy to do research into all the details that are being discussed on this forum. They feel like the "elite" have just no interest in them. The personality and message of Donald Trump just really resonates with them in this situation. If you look at it this way and go to a mid-western town in the United States to spend some time with these folks, you'll fully understand why they chose Donald Trump. They simply want America First.

Good summary. The accumulation of 40 years of unchecked neoliberalism. It will be interesting to see if Trump will make things worse (through tax cuts for the rich) or better for them (through raising import tariffs). I tent to think it will be the first and that not much will change or that things will get worse for most Trump voters.

Kamala Harris wasn't as charismatic as it was predicted earlier. Trump also still has a strong hold. But Kamala did not lose by a huge margin. So there's hope for democrats.

They've voted for an authoritarian, semi-fascist in a tough time with war on the horizon.

Its just the same cycle it always is. All that's happened is we are now closer to war than we were. America isolates more, Putin takes Ukraine, or a large enough chunk to go again and then we have a larger war in Europe, because we don't have the US guaranteeing it anymore or people taking that guarantee as a reason not to try and take land.
