Anybody else have glimpses of memories coming up?

12 posts in this topic

It’s hard to explain and it’s also not important.

But seemingly since a few week at night before sleeping i sometimes have some kind of glimpses of memories usually of childhood coming up. I don’t remember having those memory glimpses before really but who knows.

It‘s like an image or a scenery paired with a feeling but both are quite ungraspable.

One time had an image an a feeling of a party i was at a forest as a kid.

Tonight had two others. But it’s weird because it’s quite strong or cery noticeable but still ungraspable in a way and nothing really happens.

Sometimes i clearly see where it was. At a friends place etc. but sometimes i‘m not sure if it really happened or just dreamt it as a kid.

Yes, I'm having lots of those lately.

They all have a deeper quality than just normal memories, it's like you get literally transported to that moment for a micro second isn't?

It’s hard to describe. In a way it’s strong and in a way its weak and ephemeral. And it’s annoying because i want to see more of the memory but it’s not graspable or accessible.

Is there anything specific happening in your glimpses @Vibes

and have you been doing more „inner work" recently or whatever?

Same as yours, moments that might not even have happened in childhood. But some I'm certain they happened.

I practice being more present with emotions and not resisting or running away from them. And some time ago I was trying to remember if I had deeply traumatizing experiences in childhood through meditations, but didn't discover anything new that I didn't know already. The glimpses might be a lingering effect of that, now that I thought about it.

What about you?

Yea i don’t know. Might also be some childhood trauma in the story but not sure. I mean we probably all have some anyway. A few months ago seemingly got quite addicted to watching nonduality videos and also seemingly have many bodily sensations and such but maybe it’s not related and just horse dung.

Yeah it has gotten more frequent for me too. I think it's just a sign of aging as you accumulate more experiences.

Those memories are more like full fledged emotions than memories, you feel them in your chest and body, it's not just audio or video.

A while back I was going to actually make a post about this, but I decided against it. Wasn't sure how to phrase it to be understandable and I wasn't even sure myself. I might have even posted it and deleted it right away not sure; been about 6mths or longer.

I can relate to what you're saying. Quite a few experiences I'm not sure if they happened or not. Not something that I'm sure definitely happened and can't remember how it went; i actually remember how it went about 80% of it but something isn't quite there as in me being sure that it actually happened. There's not even anyone I can ask about it because I was either alone or in one instant, the person has passed away.

It's hard to explain, like you said, and it's like did that shit happened or not. A few circumstances are like that for me both childhood and adulthood.

I'm not talking about aging and losing my memory or anything like that. I remember even in my late teens early twenties, me trying to figure out if this particular memory I had actually happened. That's what I'm referring to. It would be like a few years later and I'll be reminiscing but it just seemed like a memory that was all made up and never took place because I just can't remember how it ended or i cannot fill in the pieces.

@PurpleTree according to Bashar It sounds like what is happening to you is that memories are coming up that are now relevant to help you. You have to look at what is coming up and why they matter ( according to Bashar)

I don’t think it’s a sign of aging because it started abruptly a few weeks ago.

Weird. For me it’s more flashes of memories though only like an image + a feeling.

Well i can’t grasp those memory flashes anyway.
Maybe it’s just something getting processed in the body but i don’t even really see what it is.

According to Bashar anything that u assigned meaning to has meaning. So even if it’s a flash as long as u can get something it can be useful. Also it can be unintentional red herring there for you to develop the ability to notice when things are not ment to be followed.
