First martial art lesson

13 posts in this topic

I had my first kickboxing Lesson. It’s was wonderful. The trainer was conscious of the newbies and knew that I wouldn’t get everything right, he was compassionate. The training and the drills felt really good for my body and I was so so concentrated while training, it was really good.

Hey congratulations!

Fellow martial artist here. This sport has changed my life forever

Do you need any advice? Doubts? training material?

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Half the battle is finding a good Instructor, glad you found one, hope it stays that way, Martial Arts are a Wonderful creation, they are as complex as Spiritual Systems and intermix at times with them too, keep at it, it will stay with You for the rest of Your life if You give it enough attention and dedication, one really gets to know themselves on certain levels via Martial Arts and its various Training Methods:)

@Ishanga yeah i think it will be good. I talked with him after class while the others were fighting and he told he sorts through people in his class, if people seem aggressive he kicks them out. And he’s really focused on nobody getting seriously hurt.

Totally agree

You get to know a lot of yourself when training. Particularly on sparring

That's good, Martial Arts is so much more than just about Fighting, of course that is one of its primary reasons for existence, but it goes way beyond this.. When I first started I researched so much about it, and Bruce Lee came up and I studied him very thoroughly, here is a good sharing of his, watch the Pierre Burton Interview, its the only English Interview of Bruce I believe in Existence, it was like a year or so before his death...Great Stuff!

@Ishanga thanks! Yeah I had the feeling that kickboxing was a little bit like dancing with relatively serious contact haha.

Congratulations!

What I like about kickboxing is that its way more direct and grounded as a martial art in terms of it being actually useful in combat. Very little of the fluff you get in traditional martial arts, like bowing when entering "the dojo". There aren't that many moves in total to learn. You just get to practice what there is a lot.

@Basman In terms of striking: kickboxing and Muay Thai are very complete

Remember there is Wrestling

As well as Grappling

The rock paper scissors of Combat
