5-MeO-DMT Synthetic or natural (bufo)?

11 posts in this topic

Hi. After many years of following actualized content I had an opportunity to have bufo. I decided to do it for the first time. I did bufo as I thought it is same as recommended. However despite all the wonderful things, I felt kinda weird energy. And now during the last half year since I took it, it comes back to me and I am having crazy things going on... Then I realised that perhaps it is recomended only to do the synthetic form? I thought it was no difference. I would like to know Leo thoughts on this as it was never clearly stated in any of the videos which is recomended, only which is prefered. Is it possible to have from bufo some negative stuff? Because I am having nightmares at nights, deaths, out of body experiences, seeing lizards ect. Once 2 months after taking it i almost managed not to pass away and stay using/thanks mindfulness Leo technique which I was practicing for very long time.

Leo recomends the synthetic form. He stated it a few times, like here:

Bufo and synthetic 5-MeO-DMT usually give a similar experience.

Synthetic is often preferred because it doesn't harm toads and offers a more stable effect.

The things you're going through might be related to personal issues or emotions that the experience brought up.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I have heard later few times after taking bufo that it kinda "poisons" you and is difficult to "clean" it. Then my question arose if thats even would be the case (which I am not sure and don't know what they meant) even in this case I thought perhaps thats why Leo recommended synthetic version where it does not have these "poison" lets say stuff whatever they meant. Because I personally am suspicious that it may be, not sure. Anyways glad to find out what Leo say about it, but he don't seem to mention anything bad about bufo from what I read in your shared posts.

@Ignas I don't know if bufo poisons you. I never heard Leo say that either. From all I remember, he says it's gross and that synthetic is better.

Why not try the synthetic version, when you feel ready, to compare them for yourself? Then you might know if what you experienced was caused from the version you tried or from the substance itself.

Synthetic is the way to go. Leave the toad alone.

Firstly, there is a difference between synthetic and bufo. But plenty of people have taken bufo with very positive reviews. I personally wouldn't recommend bufo because it seems like the experiential quality is different. I've never felt the need to roll around or scream whilst taking synthetic 5-MeO. But I've seen plenty of people do that with bufo.

Secondly, your negative energies and weird experiences will fade gradually over time. I used to have Infinity flashbacks and weird tingling energy feelings in my body after using 5-MeO. But they've mostly if not entirely gone now. They weren't quite as extreme as what you've described, so yours might last a bit longer.

I'm very certain Leo has specifically mentioned taking synthetic 5-MeO at least once in his videos. He may not have specifically recommended to take synthetic to others, but he has definitely stated that he personally used synthetic.

@Space This is something that is contested though. Many say they have found no difference between them.

Leo has mentioned he uses synthetic, and I believe he recommended it as well.

This is not an either or situation. There are reasons to use synthetic and there are reasons to use the toad. Especially if you live in the right part of the world the toad is abundant and it is a beautiful opportunity to get to connect with the natural source of this incredible transformative medicine / teacher / tool

I don't support disturbing the toad. People argue that it's "higher vibration" because it isn't from a lab, but that just doesn't make much sense to me.

These folks who argue for using the natural frog secretions often say so because they see the value of the natural world and see it as highly intelligent. That's all good but I can't imagine the frog spirit or mother gaia or whatever to be very happy about imprisoning and extracting the secretions of these frogs. So, just leave the toad in peace and use the synthetic, cleaner version if anything.

Here's Hamilton Morris talking about this, I think he makes a solid argument in favor of the lab-made version.

This argument consistently fails to even consider the environmental and ethical impact of synthetic.

Synthetic is more deeply abstracted than natural. One has no idea of, and would struggle to accurately model, the impact that purchasing synthetic 5-meo-dmt has.

Natural there is, ideally, zero abstraction. You squeeze the a toad and set it loose.

There is room for both natural and synthetic.
