But are they correct about society becoming deteriorated

It's deteriorated by everyone who loves Trump.

All of it is corruption on wheels.

Corruption leads to profit. Is that good? No, but no one does anything, they just watch.

Such juvenile, distasteful rhetoric. This is the ugly underbelly of Trump supporters including how Trump himself speaks brashly.

A lot of MAGA take “freedom of speech” as license to insult because it makes them feel powerful in a status quo that’s stripped them of it. They view brashness and Trump as their sledgehammer to the establishment.

They aren’t thrilled at the insults as much as they are thrilled at the audacity of being able to throw a middle finger to a polished political class high on political correctness and cancel culture.

A political class that barely considers them, and when they do it’s them being talked down to and spinning their concerns for political theatre.

But this is corrosive and shouldn’t be normalised. Its not as degenerate as drag queens stripping in front of young kids, but is dangerous due to its polarizing effects.

Absolutely not.

Racists jokes mostly upset leftists who were never going to vote for Trump anyway.

Well, it certainly didn't help him win over any more Independents, moderates, or undecided voters. If anything, it probably turned them away from him make them more likely to go with Harris/Walz.

This whole rally really had terrible PR.

I agree, but the election results are coming soon, and they won’t have much impact. Many people were upset, but many took it as a joke. If Trump had said something similar, there might have been more chaos, or is the brainwashing so strong that nothing the Trump party does will ever cause them to lose the majority of votes? You know what immoral things Trump has done in society, yet people still choose to see it as non-existent.

Maybe. I don't buy that it's going to have a big impact.

Many independents and moderates are going to be somewhat racist. That's the trouble with lefties assuming that racism should lose Trump the election.

Racism wins you an election when most people are racist.

@Nemra I agree with them that society is very unhealthy but I'm not sure I would say it's deteriorating, although some things may be. Society was never anything great to begin with. Obviously, Hollywood and the entertainment industry along with social media have had huge negative effects, but we all demand those things, so It is what it is. We wanted to watch movies, and movies we got. We wanted more action, more killing, more excitement, more ass and tities, so that's what we got. It was a runaway effect and now here we are.

Side note - did anyone seeing that ad in the video hawking ivermectin? Wow.

I just did a dive on the company, called quite literally, The Wellness Company. Textbook alternative health grift. And a presidential candidate is pushing this stuff.

I really hope Trump fades into obscurity, so nature can start healing. If nothing else, shutting Leo the fuck up is motivation enough to cast a vote for Kamala

I guess you're asking some fair questions. I honestly don't know if a truly enlightened society should be devoid of the kind of humor we've enjoyed up until now, which often comes at someone's expense but simultaneously isn't intended to be cruel. Rather, it's a way to make humorous observations that often go unspoken and become repressed by the general populace, and it probably serves the function of a type of blow-off valve so people don't feel gaslit into oblivion.

I believe that's the kind of thing Tony was doing here. I'd be shocked if he had any hate whatsoever in his heart for Puerto Rico. When I refer to "othering," I'm talking about an expression of legit revulsion, followed by a feeling of being something other than what it is you hate. This produces a cascading effect that is self-destructive and can even lead to atrocities. In comedy, despite one party often being picked on a bit, there's the opportunity for everyone to come together in a shared recognition of a humorous situation. Ideally, it's not supposed to be mean-spirited.

Now when you're talking about a political rally to promote future leaders for an upcoming election, you may have a point as to how appropriate this particular type of comedy is in that venue. Even if Tony doesn't actually dislike Puerto Rico, sensitivities are already turned up to 11, and it'd be wise to reserve that jabbing form of humor for other occasions. If I have any objections to all the outrage I'm seeing, it's that this is how comedy has always been, but maybe there's merit to the idea of there being a proper time and place for everything.

I won't even try to defend Trump telling attendees to hit each other. I think it's fair to say that should be straight up rebuked, lol.

Yeah, I'm not saying it should or shouldn't exist in society, although, ideally our comedians could figure out other ways to make people laugh, what I'm saying is that leaders have immense power to shape society and they should be as far away from that type of rhetoric as possible. You can't expect the population to be healthy and integrous if their leaders display the opposite of it. At least Kamala pays lip service to virtue, even if it's scripted.

I understand it can be annoying when comedians get shit about their jokes but I don't understand why it moves some people as much as it does. I have a friend who it really bothers that so-called leftists or liberals are stifling his comedy entertainment and it drove him to seeking out overt anti-PC comedy. He gets off when a comedian does or says something to trigger people. The more provocative, the more excited he gets. I can't figure out why he cares so much when a comedian he likes gets attacked. I like Bill Burr, but if people started giving him shit, I just wouldn't care.

The school system collaborates with BS. Nothing will change that without a war.

Yeah, but most people aren't as racist or as xenophobic as the previous generation of voters in the past were. Plus, the growing younger generations of voters today are even less racist than the current older generation of voters in America. This isn't the 1900s, early 2000s, or even the early 2010s anymore.

In fact, Michael Moore who has always had a truly remarkable pulse on who voters will vote for said that "Every study shows that there has been a significant shift in the last decade in the political beliefs of the majority of Americans — brought about mainly by the 36 million Americans who have turned 18 since Trump descended down the Golden Escalator in 2015 (a whopping two-thirds of whom vote Democratic in each election) — and the loss of 23 million of our most conservative voting demographic, the elderly, in that same time period. This has led to the new majority of Americans who now take the “liberal” position on nearly all the major issues."

Moore also said that "Trump is HOLDING A 1930s-STYLE FASCIST RALLY AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN! Only an absolute loser would do such a thing. "

Btw, Trump in 2020 had lost the largest percentage of moderate voters in a presidential election compared to any other presidential nominee since either Nixon in 1972 or Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Trump also lost the largest percentage of Independent voters in a presidential election compared to any other presidential nominee since either HW Bush in 1988 or Reagan in 1984.

Trump now has now come off even more extreme and psychotic than he was in either 2016 or 2020.

Just to add context inside Puerto Rico. We are in a point that we could FINALLY get change towards independence (we are US territory for now), so Tony coming up with this it just didn’t land pretty over here.

The green is the Independence Party which has NEVER won. It’s been always between PNP/Democratic Party (blue) and PPD/Republican Party (red).

After the Tony news I think I’m happy it happened cuz now Bad Bunny and other well known artists are endorsing Kamala.

"In an interview with Variety, Hinchcliffe stated that the line was a joke and he did nothing wrong, adding that he believed comedians should never apologize for a joke and simply continue with their work, which was the approach he took after the incident."

This idiot makes all comedians look bad. You cannot improve your craft by never admitting you are wrong.
