Tony Hinchcliffe BAD Joke at Trump’s Rally

As a fan of his show Kill Tony, this is VERY disappointing. I get he makes fun of everyone, but I think this might’ve been too much.

Well, that put the final nail into Trumps chances of winning the elections!

“I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” said Tony Hinchcliffe, a comedian whose remarks also included unsavory and racist comments about Black, Jewish and Latino people.

And before you argue that Trump didn't make the statement and this is not a reflection of his views, ask your self, who let Tony Hinchcliffe on the stage?  Trump controls everything, and he knew Tony Hinchcliffe raciest views before giving the OK for Tony to speak on behalf of Trump in Madison Square Gardens!

I think this is worse than Hillary's downfall when she said ; “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

Absolutely not.

Racists jokes mostly upset leftists who were never going to vote for Trump anyway.

I'd say there's some multi-level irony at work here, with the left's hostile reaction to satire retreading the very thing that pushed comedians like Tony Hinchcilffe away in the first place. A lot of these guys lived in California and voted Democrat for most of their lives before the sudden shift in what's considered acceptable to joke about.

Though if I had to guess the reason for such an overreaction, it's probably just the left grasping at any advantage they can get in these last few days before the election.

Of course the left will try to capitalize on this and the right will dismiss it. What's interesting are the people who don't see how such rhetoric coming from the team of the nation's likely president is worthy of rebuke.

Do you think this rhetoric that is now common at Trump rallies is worthy of rebuke? Or is it only the left's overreaction to it that you're interested in?

Do you believe this rhetoric is healthy or of little consequence? What impact do you think it might have on the citizenry? Do you think the people on the right will be more emboldened to engage in the "othering" you always talk about? Do you think it will make them more or less racists, more or less hostile? Or do you just say "It was a comedian, he always talks like that"?

When Trump tell's a rally-goer to elbow a bitch in the face and he'll pay his way out of jail and when the left reacts to that, are they reacting over nothing and just trying to win political points, or is there a legitimate reason for rebuke?

The issue is not some "you shouldn't treat people like that... how dare you!". The issue is that when leaders of nations are like this, it toxifies the entire nation. It has nothing to do with some people got their feelings hurt, unless you're blinded by hatred of the left.

If truth is the guide, there's no need for ideology, right or left.

Maturity in discussion means the ability to separate ideas from identity so one can easily recognize new, irrefutable information as valid, and to fully integrate it into one’s perspective—even if it challenges deeply held beliefs. Both recognition and integration are crucial: the former acknowledges truth, while the latter ensures we are guided by it.

And the right bitches about a degenerate society while clapping and cheering it on. Nothing amps them up quite like swear words and insults. Someone should put together a montage of Trump's crowd going wild at all his swear words and insults. It should include that time Roseanne Barr fucked up. It'd be a brutal ad.

You're right in that he's worse on the show but to do this at a political event is a very different situation. Even Trump kinda disguises what he says a little bit so that at least there's some doubt, sometimes. But Tony making out right racial jokes can't really help trump at least amongst latin or Jewish voters, obvs no dem is gonna hear that and be like 'I was waiting for racism to change my vote' but in theory it could put off undecided or be the final nail for some of his followers. Either way it's not gonna help.

@Joshe, could you expand on that?

I want to know what you are referring to by "degenerate society".

@Nemra They complain that society is morally deteriorating yet they clap the loudest at insults and swear words.

Understood.

But are they correct about society becoming deteriorated, or is it their deterioratedness that makes them think that way?

I guess you're asking some fair questions. I honestly don't know if a truly enlightened society should be devoid of the kind of humor we've enjoyed up until now, which often comes at someone's expense but simultaneously isn't intended to be cruel. Rather, it's a way to make humorous observations that often go unspoken and become repressed by the general populace, and it probably serves the function of a type of blow-off valve so people don't feel gaslit into oblivion.

I believe that's the kind of thing Tony was doing here. I'd be shocked if he had any hate whatsoever in his heart for Puerto Rico. When I refer to "othering," I'm talking about an expression of legit revulsion, followed by a feeling of being something other than what it is you hate. This produces a cascading effect that is self-destructive and can even lead to atrocities. In comedy, despite one party often being picked on a bit, there's the opportunity for everyone to come together in a shared recognition of a humorous situation. Ideally, it's not supposed to be mean-spirited.

Now when you're talking about a political rally to promote future leaders for an upcoming election, you may have a point as to how appropriate this particular type of comedy is in that venue. Even if Tony doesn't actually dislike Puerto Rico, sensitivities are already turned up to 11, and it'd be wise to reserve that jabbing form of humor for other occasions. If I have any objections to all the outrage I'm seeing, it's that this is how comedy has always been, but maybe there's merit to the idea of there being a proper time and place for everything.

I won't even try to defend Trump telling attendees to hit each other. I think it's fair to say that should be straight up rebuked, lol.
