If you have a pair of headphones on this list, you can massively change how music sounds on them by EQ'ing them. Some guy used professional equipment to test all these headphones and measured their ideal balance/EQ for generally how people enjoy music. You just need to download Peace, install that (it's free) then download Equalizer APO atop that, once you've installed EQ APO too you can open Peace and customise your levels to match per the link with all the headphones listed above (just control+F various terms of your model of headphones to see if they come up):

If it rounds up/down on the gain and 'pre-amplifying' in 0.5 intervals don't worry about it

Let me know if you try it and it sounds better, if it sounds muted/strange at first I say give it time but if you want to revert you can hit the green power button switch in the top right of Peace's window then close and uninstall the software. If you keep it, once you hit "done" in Peace the EQ settings will be saved
