LEO GURA : Awakening and suffering

134 posts in this topic

Embracing suffering is the hardest thing one can do. We are wired to our core to avoid it at all costs. I’ve been experiencing this dilemma lately.

It's masculine energy.

@Leo Gura i know a friend of mine who is deeply grounded in material conditions. He has a high career, hard working condition and is married and got a child recently. He is atheist, stage orange, never interested in spiritual stuff. He says he is very satisfied with his life.

I ask me hypothetically if I introduce su hab person like him to spiritually /awakening, how would it benefit him overall? How could he be motivated to have an awakening experience if his material life seems perfect to him? Does it even make sense for such a person to follow the path of awakening if he is so deeply involved with work/family (probably for next 20 years)?

Look. You are living in a hallucination.

Either you are interested in knowing that or you are not.

If you ask, "But how will it benefit me to know that I am living in a hallucination?" then you are not serious and you shouldn't pursue this work.

@Leo Gura What about acceptance of suffering ? While suffering cannot be eliminated from life , it can be reduced by going through it . Whenever I feel bad , I accept it which paradoxically makes me smile. Is it the counterintutive nature of suffering ?

That's why I said embrace suffering.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@Sugarcoat But suffering is also biological as you see from an evolutionary perspective .

Physical suffering is to keep us alive yes. Mental suffering too in a way

The truth is that there will always be unavoidable suffering, but we mustn't also not avoid the ones we can.

@Leo Gura Yeah you are right . I found this to be the most effective method for overcoming suffering months ago. It's more effective than positive thinking or rather trying to eliminate suffering. Have you experience a smile while accepting your suffering ?(Personal question)-I have experienced it.

@Leo Gura @Leo Gura @Davinodude how heck do you embrace it when it doesn't make any fkin sense .

like anytime I think about my situation I feel very unfair about it  and ask that wth have I done to deserve this .There are morally ethically bad people who are happier Why me .And I fall into envy and resentment towards others or life itself .

How do you avoid it .How do you guys avoid this ???

Key: You're suffering thoughts. Nothing said will be acceptable.

Cannot avoid what arises.

No need for acceptance either. Saying to accept the suffering only keeps the idea of suffering alive. This is how I transcended it. Won't work if you still believe there's someone suffering. Suffering will never go away. I'm not telling you you're not suffering, I'm saying suffering is suffering just as crying is crying and laughing is laughing. Do you try to avoid laughing. They all have one thing in common....ending in -ing. They are activities. A laugh cannot avoid a laugh because a laugh is a laugh.

Please stop bolding your entire posts.

As a baseline, you need a deep existential relationship with life. You have to regard all of life with the gravity it deserves, not as something comfortable that you feel entitled to. You have to frame your whole attitude in a deeper context. Rats and birds are shivering to death right now outdoors somewhere. That's life! Not this artificial stuff that humans have invented. Life is serious business and must be treated with much respect.

You can't feel entitled to anything, not to happiness, not to health, not to freedom, not to comfort, not to freedom from pain.

This is the right starting point. Humans are spoiled and corrupt. This corruption makes you weak, pathetic, and miserable.

You should treat life more like you are a rat out in the middle of winter. A rat has no rights and is entitled to nothing. A rat has to work every minute to stay alive. That's real life.

You shouldn't be focusing on such artificial and spoiled concepts like fairness. You should be focused on what work you need to do to grow yourself.

You just aren't aware of how suffering serves you if you were aware of it you would be thankful to it whenever it came your way.

Whenever you suffer it is meant to happen so that you grow stronger and surrender more of your ego to God.

Chasing after spiritual enlightenment and chasing after sex and money… In the end, what’s the difference?!

All of it has to do with our inborn Desire capability, we all want to be MORE than what we are right now, but some do it ways that in the end will disempower the process of actually BEING more.  Going after sex and money, it will eventually disempower You. Going after Enlightenment (which is what Spirituality is about, Spirituality is about Experiencing a dimension within You that is beyond Physical (Sex) or Mind (Money/control/power), and allowing You to Experience God/Absolute/Oneness/Completeness and that I am not the Body or Mind), so that real Potential arises within You...You'll see that most all that go after Sex or Money soon feel lifeless, because they realize this is not Life itself...

Pain is useful up to a point, once it gets to that point of not being useful (when it turns into Suffering), then You have to use another capability to allow Potential to arise within You, staying with Suffering will for most keep them Suffering while here Embodied on this plane of Existence...

Also without suffering we would be dead much much sonner than our time comes for death.
