How is it to be an average person?

150 posts in this topic

It’s a mystery to me, guess I will never know. Seems nobody can describe it either.  Not that it’s important for me to know, just a thought that comes to me sometimes. I do wish I was like an average person sometimes.

Can you explain it in detail? I couldn't get it. What do u mean by "average" person?

It means what it says, the average person, with a normal self. I know it’s maybe not the best formulated question because even though there is  such a thing as the average person, people’s experience differs from each other still and depending on what they’re currently going through their experience will differ. So maybe it wasn’t the best question but still it is something that I ponder from time to time while observing other people that I would consider “normal”

So what are you being right now, if not average? Average can be interpreted in many ways. (academically, spiritualy, etc.)

Write things in detail. I have posting limits too.

I could describe my own general experience and you would recognize that it’s not average. You are right though that the word average could be interpreted in various ways within various categories, but I mean just average in general, the average general everyday experience

And you're asking on this forum?
"Normal people" feel kinda effortless to me, they're so reactive and immersed in whatever they do, it's like they're perfectly tuned to a hive mind. They act as if on impulse, feeling instinctively what to say, where to go, without a second thought, regardless of whether it's good or bad, they wing it on real-time, environmentally-synchronized heuristics. It's quite fascinating, I've tuned into that frequency before, but can't stay there.

That was such a great response. I have thought along similar lines and made similar observations. First when I saw you wrote something I thought to myself “this guy can’t answer my question since he isn’t normal” but you answered it from an interesting perspective somewhat similar to mine. I can’t stay in that frequency either. A lot of people also have this “judgyness” about them. And are easily irritable, that I’ve noticed too. It’s like it’s in their nature to judge. You are right maybe this is not the best place to ask.

I always been perceived as wired, right wing saw me to liberal and, left wing saw me as workaholic, i was born in a radically conservative society believing blue for men and red for women and i always loved the red color, I think think there is an average person lol i think you can get a too conformist person that doesn't give a clear cut stands just conforms to society, so many people believe they are normal or average but i see how watch person is extortionary in something, it was shocking to me realizing how people get sucked into a matrix of culture of some sort in my life experience i experienced life from the matrix of Islamic world Ramadan and how people believe the moon was split in half, now for me my family are crazy lol (i love my family and i have good relationship with them tho i dont live with them i left)  for my family am crazy xD, its crazy how what normal seem up-normal from a radically different perspective, I kinda see how people lost in their mind defining their idea including me and see how from one person to another insane different in perspective and insane different on what is considered normal

But if you want the "normal" experience you just plug your self in the matrix of culture and say

Even if you did that you would see a huge world view difference between rich and poor, athlete and influential, gay and non gay
people that are super open like me, and ultra closed people that hate talking to foreign people

So practically the notion of normal is unrealistic but the idea of conforming to one culture  which will make our brain sucked into it and make us feel things that normal and other are not normal exist which is crazy to think about it this way

"Average" actually derives from the word age when people started wondering what's the age of the group many many years back.

Everyone of us is 'average' no matter what you accomplish in life. There's not a single human being I know that manages to live beyond 200 years old. Let me know if you know of any real examples.

Average can only be measured on a scale.  I believe one fairly reasonable characterization, is that an average person has fewer moments of genius than a genius does.  And conversely many more than an average right-winger.

That’s not the definition I use at least

I didn't say that. They're right if they think they're weird. Who are we to say they're not. Weird depends on who's looking or perceiving. Somebody more weird than you will think you're normal and vice versa.

People don’t show all of themselves when around you, so you have a point, they might be weirder than they seem.

Even if they're average and normal, they'll think or say they're weird. Not that they don't show it around you. My cat probably thinks I'm weird. Shit, people around me, thinks I'm weird, and I think they're weird; whose right. That's what I mean. It's a matter of opinion. I think I'm the most normal person on the planet. Now, that's weird.😜😜

this is a gross oversimplification but I'd define average as anyone in stage orange and below. Again this is a oversimplification as each stage has incredibly acomplished individuals outside of the norm. For me average also means conforming to your culture, tribe, customs, traditions beliefs withought questioning anything. In that sense yes, I also don't understand how people can live their lives this way buuuuuuut it's also true I was brought up questioning everything. If I'd been born in a different family, under different circumstances I'd probably also be "average" and think "average".
