Psychedelics and music

12 posts in this topic

In my experience, music has been important to the quality of my inner journey.   I have attended many ceremonies where they play the medicine songs.    I eventually grew dissatisfied with this format because each song is from 3 to 4 minutes, and each song would stimulate different images and a different theme with no long term continuity resulting in an aimless journey.   I purchased a pair of Bose noise-cancelling headphones to block out the ceremony music and started experimenting with my own playlists played on my own mp3 player.

For a recent mushroom ceremony, I made two playlists.  The one playlist was Scientific Sound music from Jeffrey Thompson.  This music has entrainment frequencies, such as alpha, beta, gamma, and lambda.   The other playlist was shamanic meditation music.   I started out with the scientific music playlist and found that it wasn’t focusing my journey any better than the ceremony music.  So I switched to the shamanic music.

I put the following musical arrangement on repeat loop and played it all night.  It is called “Spirit Awakening Sounds of Empowerment Shamanic Meditation Music”.

This music put my in a profound and deep state of meditation.  In my visions, a powerful shaman appeared to me healing me with his powerful frequencies.   I felt divine energy flowing through my body and the awakening of powerful masculine energy.   It was a journey of deep healing.

The music is from a YouTube channel called  “Larimar Sound Alchemy”.   As far as I am concerned, this artist is an inspired shaman.

The scientific music was too mechanical.   The shamanic music uses the human voice which is living and infinitely more subtle in its abilities to penetrate the heart and heal.

Are you aware of the Ikaro singing tradition? Probably that's what you refer as traditional music.

Maestra Olivia is real nice. She was the head of the Ayahuasca Shipibo tradition before being murdered. Such a pure spirit and angelic frequency chanting.

Maria Sabina is the Queen of mushroom healings. If you happen to listen while on mushrooms you'll be utterly transformed. It comes from that space and works best under psychdelic states of consciousness, particularly magic mushrooms.

Otherwise classic long rituals. I like this one, my company for many healing trips

For LSD this spotify playlist helps me a lot to flow with the vibes

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

Davino, yes I am aware of the Icaros.  I did a plant diet with a shaman in the Amazon.   It's the same principle.  They are using the human voice to guide the journey along with a rhythm with drums or rattles to put one into an altered state of consciousness .

@Jodistrict Yes, I thought that could be the case. Wanted to share just in case

I looked at his bio on his web page and it appears that he has studied the healing songs from Peru.

"Hello I am Larimar, a complementary therapist based in London UK that specialises in the use of vocal harmonics and musical instruments for Relaxation, Healing, Shamanic Journey, Inspiration of Inner Vision and Empowerment. I offer one to one Sound Healing, group Sound Baths and Sound Meditations in person as well as online.

My fascination with music and sound begun in my early childhood when I heard my voice being played back to me on a cassette, hearing my own voice coming out of a speaker absolutely blew my mind. Imagine hearing your own voice played back for the first time ever! Amazed by this experience I started recording stories that were playing out in my mind as a little kid on a tape recorder that was gifted to me by my grandmother. This led to playing around on my mother’s old guitar, then to jamming with friends in the local park all the way to writing and recording music in my home studio. In 2010 I was introduced to the plant medicine called Ayahuasca, a key moment in my live that led me onto the path of healing and the study of Shamanism, Systematic Kinesiology, Neurokinetic Therapy and Reiki. Spending many years holding plant medicine ceremonies, I have observed, witnessed and studied the healing abilities of music and song, especially when coupled with intention.

I was particularly touched and inspired by the healing songs ( Icaros ) of the Shipibo people from Peru. In parallel, during my long-time practice of Capoeira ( an Afro- Brazilian art form combining martial arts, music and philosophy ), I begun to notice similarities in its ritualistic use of rhythm and singing and the effects it had on my well- being. The time had finally come to formally study Sound Healing at the Sound Healing Academy in 2016 under Tony Nec, opening the doors to conducting Sound Baths for our South West London community and corporate companies such as Dropbox, the Beaverbrook Hotel, Sanctuary Spa and the Travers Smith Law Firm.

Sound Healing is an easily accessible and very effective form of complementary therapy that yields profound results in helping people restore well-being. Through the therapeutic application of vocals and instruments a state of deep relaxation can be achieved. In this state of meditative awareness not only stress and stored emotions are released, but also harmony and clarity can be restored."

Thank you for sharing. It's amazing.

Here is what I sometimes listen to while tripping. It's a hour long 432 Hz music. It is very calming, but maybe a bit too sad at times. What you shared is great.

I think basically our consciousness is too narrow/uninvolved biologically to "see" what they're doing if that makes sense (pschyedelics)

Music is very ordered and repetitive, i think it basically encourages your brain down certainly pathways etc and when you have a psychedelic replacing serotonin it does it like multiplicatively times better and faster. That's where you get meaningful hallucinations from music on psychedelics, cos you're p much Entrancing yourself alongside the chemical. Also music is pretty bullish to our expectations as are musicians, we will notice the changes in the rhythm and patterns of the music pretty blatantly/unavoidably and we will either like them or dislike them depending on ourselves/our state and this can by alongside the artist's intention or against it or accidental and all is worthy, it really is. I always struggle with deciding if the artist "just intended to do that to me" in some sense of if im just bumping my head against the music that I can't groove all the way with yet

however, directly after my last strong acid trip I would have told you that king gizzard are a terrifying unforgiving God who have unlocked the universe or something and we should worship them

Jazz & Indian classical music is my go to. I cannot handle lyrical music when tripping.
