I’m currently studying italian, but after i finish i want to study a stage purple language. I want one that you can find on google translate and that is spoken by millions of people so that i can find enough material to learn it.

@Majed U r currently studying Italian. So why do u want to add other languages to your plate, and that too a stage purple language? You won't be able to handle that. Language learning sucks. It's so nuanced. It takes 600+ hours to learn the easiest language in the world (Español).

What CEFR level u r at in Italian?

.......

Btw you could ask this on GPT.

Quechua

Zulu (South Africa)

Are u okay in Labanon?

Not only does it take 600+ hours, but if you don't keep practicing after that, you'll forget it. It's very ungrateful to learn languages, it's like skipping the gym for 3 weeks.

You need to be at C2 level to fully connect with natives. It must be in your subconscious.

I have been learning English since childhood (although not rigorously), still I have a long way to go in fluency. I oftentimes check my grammar on ChatGPT (before posting on this forum, for slight improvements).

Tldr : It's very very nuanced.

@Genius100x you guys have a bunch of limiting beliefs

I'll learn languages too. Like Spanish, German (in addition to my native languages) But not more than that.

If it's worth your time then definitely go for it.

@Majed

How? Don't see only returns. Returns are great . But there's also a thing called investment. What's the return on investment?

If you spend 1000 hours learning MMA or business or science, it would be a better investment.

Once again I am repeating, returns are great. Even I want to learn many languages. It develops our brain in many ways. Some cool and subtle insights we get, related to linguistics.

But the cost is just too much.

And how much content we have to consume in that language? How many people you are gonna talk to in that language? Just for few hours of movies and for talking to just few people, u are spending 800 hours , still you won't reach C2 level.

Isn't it more of an entertainment? If u are open-minded to see this...

Btw how much Italian do you know on CEFR scale? And how many hours u have spent in it so far?

________

And after all this shit I have written, it's your life your time your choice. I m nobody to tell you. I am just writing my POV.

I wouldn’t use “purple” as a language qualifier, but I definitely resonate with your motivation. I speak 4 languages and want to learn Tamil next - spoken by 65 million people - it is the oldest Dravidian language with 60% of ancient texts in India being written in it.
