Job Market and Skill Set

2 posts in this topic

okay, I love AI, I want to develop mastery in that and combine it with my philosophical interests in some way.
I am currently taking Harvad's CS50 and I will hopefully study computer engineering as a major.

But everywhere I look, people tell me the job market is dead/too much competition.
Like AI and machine learning, from my research, everyone is like "don't get into it the job market is very competitive and it is extremely hard"
same thing with other niches.

So.... now what?
What will be relevant ?

I suppose I could say I should just focus on developing good skills, and opportunities will come, or just start my own business.
Currently I have too much on my plate but yes starting a business is a must.

So the question again, what will be relevant considering the consistently changing market?

I believe in the religion of Love

For love is my religion and my faith.

Build the skills first. Especially if you are interested in AI. Some of the smartest and most educated people work there. Bachelors may not be enough for it. Im prepping for a PhD for that reason. All the ”wrapper”/non-technical companies will get eaten alive - that’s what happened with all the RAG, Vector DB and PDF chatbot companies.
