Sleeping Habits

25 posts in this topic

Been tracking my sleep and trying to improve it but nearly every night I always wake up too early an have trouble going back to sleep. I think its really important just for general functioning. I'm wondering if going to sleep earlier can help.

Anyway what time you mofos go to sleep and what kind of numbers are you putting up?

What is too early for you?

I am tracking my sleep starting this week.

My sleep was off for a week or two but seems to be returning.

When you wake up do you feel rested? What’s your pre-bed routine?

Do you know your sleep score?

Nice, do you find it helps to track it?

If I sleep under 6 hours I feel exhausted. But generally I hit that at least, sometimes for whatever reason I dont get enough rem or deep sleep, so I'll sleep a lot but still feel tired but that's not often. My bedtime routine is usually terrible, watch youtube on my phone before bed or listen to a comedy podcast a fall asleep to it.

For the last 7 days my sleep score was 75 out of 100, which is actually decent for me. What about you?

I sleep early in the night and wake up at two am. These days it had been like that. And I like it as I'm not rushing into the day. And I don't sleep after until night.

And it seems like I need less sleep when I sleep like this.

Sounds like you’re depressed. This is exactly how it has been for me for the past three years, until this summer.

Aha, that’s good!

@Consept My Oura comes tomorrow. It takes about 2 weeks for it to get to know me.

I’ll be tracking and reviewing my sleep and will share insights and tips as I go.

Last night my sleep was bad and I felt bad this morning for it.

Sleep is key. I bet a lot of mental health problems are simply lack of quality sleep, family/ friend time and nutrition.

Have 1 fixed point in the 24-hour day, a point that is non-negotiable and cast-iron

Good choice is the bed-time or the get-up-time

Do not deviate by a minute

From there count forward or backwards 8 hours or whatever to put in place a sleep schedule

For me it is 6.40am; That's when I want to start my day.

So I sleep 8 hours beforehand.

Sleep like a log and always do

Above may be helpful to that end

@Consept it’s very important to know that the body is very habitual. So if you wake up early then the probability of waking up early will happen again next time. This starts off small but after five or six nights the habit is pretty much set. Of course there are supplies to go to bed early.

If you randomly waking up there is so many factors why. See how you feel and research to try to work it out.

I heard in spiritual circles apparently Aurora‘s are causing people to wake up in the middle of the night a lot right now. and it doesn’t matter where the planet you are.

It’s very important to know the blue light basically is a trigger in the brain to keep you awake so you need to have no blue light about one hour before you intend to go to sleep. The supplies to other lights also, but as long as they’re dark, it’s okay. Opposite of blue is orange which is good to know.

Heard they’ve done sleep studies where it’s very rare that someone actually has a sleeping problem and they just need to turn off the screens before they go to bed.

Anyone who says they’re enlightened on this form in anyway is not, except me I am.

It just means you are done sleeping. You are saying my body needs 7-8 hours of sleep and your body is saying I need 5

Can't get any simpler than that. Only thing is for the sleep cycle to be completed usually 7-8hrs is needed depending on age. I guess he needs ways to sleep for 7-8hrs so the body doesn't wake up in 5.

I have different sleeping hours depending on the day i'm having, if I've been out, home working etc. One thing stable is the hours which is usually 6-8hrs straight, depending on the time I fell asleep. If it's 4a.m usually I sleep for 6-7hrs, 2a.m and earlier full 8hrs, after 7a.m, sometimes 5 - 7hrs. My body can adjust easily as it's adjusting to sporadic sleeping times so it's already used to that. If I put a movie in on low speaker as I'm going to bed, I usually fall asleep faster. I notice if nothing is on, it takes a little longer. Doesn't matter if I'm on the computer all day or night. I can still sleep.

Throughout the years the only thing I've noticed that would make me toss and turn for a little bit is if I've had some soda or had a beer. Doesn't last long, but I never fidget in sleep, so I'll always look back and saw either one was involved. Don't do either often so that's good. Sleep has never been a problem for me and i never focus on anything sleep related. Tracking sleep, avoiding anything except what I mention above, prepare for anything, worry about not sleeping, read about sleep problems etcetc. I think if I started focusing on sleep or making sure I don't develop sleeping problems and tracking and all that, that's when the problems will arise because that's where my focus is. It's like I don't notice my hand is there until I bump it or it hurts.

Maybe your waking up issue is related to digestion. Have you tried stopping eating at least 3 hours before going to bed?

The highest sleep score I ever got was 81. Usually under 80 even when I sleep 8+ hrs. I don’t understand how to max that out. Subjectively speaking it’s clear that I could be more rested so I am not surprised that I have bad sleep score. What I think is non negotiable to get half decent sleep is exercising. Cardio, strength & flexibility. But it clearly involves more than that. Haven’t figured out what that is yet.

It's pretty obvious when you don't get enough sleep, no matter how often it happens. The body and mind get pretty dysfunctional and it's almost impossible to have a good day. That's how it is for me at least. Just because you can't get any more sleep, does not mean that you've had enough of it.

@Kid A well you literally can't know until you get up so when the body gets up that means move.

If you want to try a mild change, watch Bob Ross before going to sleep on your phone on lowest possible brightness.

If you want to try a large change, flip your shower time from morning to night, or night to morning and see if that helps.
