Coffee: I want the benefits but not the addiction

Does it have similar effect as coffee lol what?

Coffee increases a bit dopamine neurotransmition so it has an antidepressant effect but it's very stressfull, it even makes me shaky sometimes. It's also quite a mechanical high, unless combined with cigarettes which gives a more teasing, inconsiderate vibe.

Psylocybin is the best "antidepressant"iI've tried, it makes reality more "compact", real, tangible and sensual. The only problem is that it also makes me lazy and anxious, it's like losing my "foot". I don't know if it's the same for SSRIs.

Does it have negative consequences for health? (I only mean the coffe not the cigarettes because we know cigarettes are bad)

Idk i've seen a lot of conflicting points of view and i don't want to get more interested in it than that lol. I'll continue to see it as an occasional pleasure like cigarettes.

I don’t feel anything in particular when I drink coffee for some reason.

It would be cool to try psilocybin

It’s hard for me to tell what my antidepressants are doing because I also take olanzipine so I can’t tell which one does what. But in general I feel calmer, less anxious, and a “damping down” of my internal life.

I drink coffee occasionally too. Do you like cigarettes? I don’t do any of that.

Prozac tends to make people more energetic and possibly more anxious especially in the beginning of the treatment and indeed olanzapine blocks that.

Both reduce overthinking, aggression, gambling and work addiction, libido, and "manic" traits in general.

Me too, it tastes very good with coconut cream, sugar and a tablespoon (or teaspoon) of rum.

Yes sometime it's pleasant, i must smoke two packs a year.

You exposed me. I’m trying to stop the habit. I guess it’s better than biting nails though

Exclusively for landscape.

Because you never tried :)

Probably because you didn't really swallow the smoke, or just took a few hits.

Nevermind.

I hated the Jamaican coffe I ordered at the bar so I’m imagining coffe with rum etc tastes like that

You might be right because I don’t remember if I swallowed the smoke or not. I do know I feel effect of vape though when I swallow. I’m craving it now lowkey it would be nice

It can be hard to stop those habits I don’t judge.

Imagine with less rum and more sugar, it’s all a question of dosage and the line can be thin.

Coffee makes me anxious or belligerent, same for a close friend.

Sorry to hear that. In such case you probably benefit from not using it. Still, doesn't mean others wouldn't.

It increases dopamine a little but you might as well take a real antidepressant.

I assume they control for the usage of antidepressants in those studies but I wasn't able to find it specifically being mentioned. Lot of people choose not to take antidepressants due to their side effects or for other reasons. Nothing wrong with taking meds tho if that's what helps you.

👍

From what i’ve seen the se can be mitiged by mixing SSRI with a stimulant (like bupropion) or directly an harmalan.

I have taken Mirtazapine for a while but it was too sedating.

I've worked with lots of people taking some form of SSRI/SNRI, MOAI even TCA antidepressants, often combined with antipsychotics, beta blockers, benzos or occasionally even stimulants.  What I've gathered so far is literally every single person has a completely different experience. Some tolerate them well but it dulls them a bit and to some they completely overwhelm their system.

I don't love psychiatric meds because they can be hard to work around and prevent contraindications with food and supplements, especially when combined. At the same time I'm glad they exist, they save lifes and keep many people "further from the abyss".

hope you'll find the answers to the underlining issue eventually -_-

More like 15 minutes and a good (subtle) afterglow because tobacco also act as a prolonged MAOI ; I wouldn't use any psychotropic outside the context of occasional pleasure, especially cigarettes.

You are certainly more qualified than I to talk about people's relationship with medications.

Have you been on medication one day ? No tacit reproach eheh, it's just pure curiosity.

I’m on a personal quest to find my favorite coffee. The current one I have tastes too bitter for me, it was recommended by someone but I didn’t like it. On to the next one once I finish this.

@Schizophonia haha no worries its a fair question. Not really no. At least not with psychiatric meds. To he honest i have so little experience with medicine from a perspective of a patient that maybe that's a major limitation of mine. Maybe i was lucky to have been born with good genetics.

I do have quite bit of experience with anxieties, panic attacks and dissasociation tho, I've had quite a few episodes over my life which I've always managed to get on top of without pharmacology and knowing the risk factors like alcohol and sleep deprivation helps me avoid them now.

But I'm not qualified to talk about what it actually feels like to be on meds i guess

Stop lying, the advice of French doctors is very clear: It is statistically impossible to be English and vegan without large doses of prozac, scientific research shows that.

I know the Queen's Guards with the Marge Simpson haircut hats are threatening you but we can make a plan, you can come to my PM and I promise I will help you escape from your island. We will comfort you with croissants, pork from Bigorre, sunshine, and brunette women under 80 kilos.
