Don't worry, you will outgrow your phone addiction

37 posts in this topic

I have got rid of my gaming pc and consoles, have "cold turkey" as a distraction blocker on my Mac, on my smartphones I only have the most necessary apps. My life would go very sideways and I would be in suffering if I didnt do all these precautions.

Yes it's a partial truth that you outgrow your addictions that way naturally but you also built habits that you need to replace then.

Terrible mindset. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about because I lived this mindset for a LONG time.

Growth does not just happen to you. YOU have to realize the immaturity of it and you COULD achieve this in a fairly quick amount of time if YOU put energy into it. But YOU HAVE TO PUT ENERGY INTO IT.

"It will happen naturally bro." "Fuck it, indulge yourself for days bro, eventually you'll learn for sure".

No. Here's the crucial insight: if you believe that, this energy is going to repeat itself for a shitload of time because YOU will never get off your ass and come to the right understanding. You allow yourself to be raped by the addiction and hope for the world to eventually convince you that being raped is not fun.

The right mindset is: it won't happen unless I change it and I CAN change it NOW. If it's not changing, it's because I'm not serious about it.

Everything depends on you. Don't be a leaf in the wind. You don't have to endlessly suffer.

No way! My teachers taught me that there's only and exactly one way to calculate the right solution!

Your technique works of course but it has a steeper, not necessarily needed cost.

Like I mentioned, I lived this exact mindset for a long time. I'm just now recovering from it. So this is just a friendly warning. Live how you wanna live of course.

@Keryo Koffa Your posts are consistently off-topic, clownish, arguably useless. Are you here to just shitpost?

If you don't stop the behavior, it won't stop of its own accord.

Your point on addictions fading is interesting. I used to be "addicted" to video games playing them 12-16 hours a day and I don't game at all really anymore. Only faded when I had a greater purpose and got into game/entrepreneurship.

No need to try and beat your phone addiction. You will outgrow it naturally the same way you outgrew your childhood addictions like Pokemon. Notice how you didn't need to try and beat your Pokemon addiction?

Are you really going to be a 90 year old still addicted to their phone? Of course not.

What you resist persists. So don't resist your phone addiction, infact indulge yourself for days if needed until you realize the immaturity of it and you will natural stop.

We will still be dependant on our phone in our 90's

What's happening now in real-time, is  that the entire world has become wholly dependant on their phone and the internet.

It's handy for all sorts of reasons, like returning goods from Amazon without having to use a printer.

More so for a 90 year old because it would save them from having to go outside to buy big or small stuff, or to speak to other people.

I hardly look at my iphone at all, and only use it when I need to buy something over £300 more or less ..I cannot do that, until I get the one-stop pass codes from my bank sent to my phone, that I then have to type into my computer device or phone,  where I am making the large purchase from.

Not addicted to my phone, but it is a compulsory item to have, if and when I ever want to buy anything online. Or speak to anyone online.

The phone and the internet is very useful. But hardly addictive, well not for me anyway.

If you don't have the discipline, get rid of your phone for an old button phone.

This is not real growth because it's easy to not be distracted by keypad phone. Real growth is when you have smartphone and all social media apps (Instagram, Quora, X, etc.) still you are not distracted, you aren't even aware that they exist.

Real growth is not in uninstalling apps or hiding them because then it's easy to get rid of them, anyone can do that.

Willpower is for losers. You only have so much of it, so it's wise to strategically built a lifestyle where you have to invest the least amount of willpower to get to your goal.

You don’t understand addiction and you’re coping.
