I'm Pretentious.

9 posts in this topic

In the spirit of self honesty and identifying default positions, I am pretentious.

I scoff at people who smoke and get really drunk and keep buying crap they don't need.

I scoff at needy people, and I think I know more than others because I investigate these things encouraged by Leo to investigate that 99% of people don't.

I think this makes me special.

Please break my paradigms/beliefs/positions that I am better than the average person.

Give my Ego a choke slam and then a gnarly arm bar.

Thanks x

I forgot an apostrophe. I corrected it because I am pretentious.

They're a part of you, too.
Put this first video on mute, and play the second video in sync with the first one.
You can loop them as well and just sort of spend like ten mins connecting with their eyes.  Just look at the love, that's in everyone, underneath all this bullshit that fucks people up.
When I feel more special than others or deficient in empathy I do this practice.  Good luck.

Well, you didn't really see how tricky the mind is yet.

If you did, there would be no reasons to blame anyone anymore.

People can be drunk and selfish and needy, but that's not a reason to make you feel special. That's a huge pitfall. I can personally relate to this because in the past I always, and I really means ALWAYS wanted to make myself look better in everyone else's eyes or at least feel better about myself. However, I've became more aware of that today.

The same thoughts pop up every now and then in my head whenever I see people like that around me, but instead of scoffing at them, I take pity on them. Because what if I lose my consciousness and end up like them? That must be a horrible thing to happen to me, right? That's the kind of shift in perspective that eventually arrives at compassion, and compassion is a very powerful thing.

That's pathetic, don't you have any sympathy for other people at all?O.o

You are not special at all, you just happen to get really lucky.

Feeling special is normal. Every human being thinks they're special. It's what ego does. Separate itself from the rest.

It helps to find out why these people do the things they do. Why do people smoke? Why do people drink? Why do people destroy their bodies willingly? Why are people needy? If you are able to answer all these questions on a deeper level, I promise you the judging will stop. In a recent video, Leo spoke about always pursuing big picture understanding. I would recommend just that.
