What are the differences between arrogance and close-mindedness. Would like to see people‘s opinions to see how I am lacking in these areas.

Arrogance is a psychological reaction to insecurity as means of over-compensating.

Close-mindedness is related to cognitive bias - an epistemic filter/deadlock that discards opposing information and cherry picks that which is in support.

It is often one appears with the other, for arrogance is a very “effective” way of finding an excuse to not examine something deeper - the mind after all has to work overtime for keeping its bias.

They are very different.

Arrogance is thinking you are above others.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Close mindedness is a lack of honesty. And lack of honesty is arrogance.

I'm gonna say close mindedness and arrogance are the same thing.

There is no close mindedness without arrogance. And there is no arrogance without close mindedness.

Both close mindedness and arrogance stem from the same source - lack of honesty.

Interesting question tho.

I love this quote about arrogance I heard long ago.

There are three types of arrogance.

1. Thinking I'm better than others

2. Thinking I'm worse than others

3. Thinking I'm equal to others.

Good luck understanding the last two, haha.

But how could someone believe that without some form of closedmindedness? If someone is really openminded, they wouldn’t think they are above others. They would realize that all is relative. All is perspective. Postmodernism is the openmindedness and modernism is the arrogant closedminded scientist. Arrogance and closed mindedness have to go together.

“Our most valuable resource is not time, but rather it is consciousness itself. Consciousness is the basis for everything, and without it, there could be no time and no resource possible. It is only through consciousness and its cultivation that one’s passions, one’s focus, one’s curiosity, one’s time, and one’s capacity to love can be actualized and lived to the fullest.” - r0ckyreed

Arrogance is when you need to be above of others, self confident is when you know where you are in relation with others, and maybe, in some circumstances, you could be above of them, but you wouldn't need it, in fact you would like that they are in your level or more to learn from them.

Close mindless is when you are attached to some ideas because you can't be balanced without them, then you defend them without attend to any reason, it's a matter of survival. Arrogance is a kind of close mindless.

The etymology of arrogance originally was "to claim for oneself": Ad (to) + rogare (ask).

If I know we’re both source is it also arrogant. Seems like the joy of knowing that your source would just clear away the idea of arrogance but also of judgement and hatred.

I agree and I agree with Saljius. But I’d say it’s good to also establish distinctions between them for better navigation in the world.
