2024 Election Discussion General

@Etherial Cat I appreciate you sharing your personal experiences and perceptions as an unbiased, developed person that grew up outside of this socially diseased bubble. It really is thought provoking about how unique America may be as a country in a historical context. A "united" but always quite divided country. The stories you shared about those people are very real and honestly, not that surprising. Materialism and selfishness has destroyed a great deal of the family units here.

I'm sure a lot of these issues may not actually be unique to us, but this is an isolated country comparative to most other developed countries, so ethnocentric and xenophobic tendencies may just be factors of being geographically lonely.

Western Europe seems like a great place to be, I've honestly been looking into becoming an expat and moving over there. Since this election occurred, I just feel disconnected from my fellow countrymen. I've never not felt a lack of pride about being an American until the past couple of days, and I don't think I'll be able to shake that feeling.

The voter turnout is abysmal. Half of Americans do not even care about elections or voting.

Same, the massive disconnection I feel with other people post-election even after meditating is slightly concerning.

Yo...you do realize that the right literally stormed the capitol when they lost? How does that even compare to the other side who has respectfully conceded but believes it to be a bad outcome?

'Basically behaving like radicals' jesus h christ lmao the gaslighting the right does is INSANE

@whh2222 Yes, I admit that was the same behaviour (and of course worse).

However not all right-wing voters of America stormed the capitol, just a few. So converting it into a fight of left vs right would be the mistake I´m pointing to.

Democracy has spoken. Accept it and learn from the mistakes your party might have done that have made them lose.

Instead of projecting the blame to the IQ or unconsciousness of the right voters.

People are way too dumb to understand what Trump has in the books, fascism is no hyperbole.

If you witness firsthand the weaponization of the justice system for personal gain (of the dictator) you would even consider war at that point.

The only fault of democracy is that it didn't have any checks and balances in place that could make it impossible for even a president to use every means necessary to remain in power and prosecute his political opponents, now even the few rail guards that are in place to combat corruption will get removed.

When democracy falls and any speech against the authority is a punishable offense, then bloodshed is the only solution left.

I Hope Trump doesn't abuse his power that much even considering that there will be no legal consequences if he did.

More than a third of the country think that the 2020 election was stolen. Stupidity is obviously a huge problem among right wingers in the US.

You have to make an extended analysis of the role of the goverment. There needs to be a clear understandig of what the goverment is for and what it is not for, despite the people in power. Only then you can judge better. What are the best possible regulations and when regulations become an obstacle. None of that is being discussed in the magazine, which is a great indicator for why the left didn't win.

@zazen you should maybe be careful with what you post here. Some of the members are in a fragile state, and there could be some serious consequences to them being exposed to stuff like that.

It's crazy to see how much this thread has grown ever since the election results.

When I first started this thread, I had to keep bumping it on my own because so little people replied. Now its arguably the most popular thread in this entire forum, currently.

I don't even understand what you're trying to say. Kamala has respectfully conceded, the left isn't attempting a coup or storming the capital. The people who are upset with the results are speaking their mind, which is free speech. But were "basically being radicals"?

Democracy has spoken, but electing Trump has the potential to dismantle the foundation of that democracy for the future. I truly hope I am wrong, but that it not a far out take. And yes I do blame it on the lower consciousness of the majority of voters. I don't think that necessarily makes them bad people, but I do view them as asleep and not fully aware of the magnitude of what they're supporting.

If you think it is low conscious to express this opinion, and to use the term 'basically radicals' then you are delusional, and you should put your foot in your mouth for even trying to compare the unhappy left with the right who refused to accept a loss to the point of attempting a coup.

30 Pages crying about the result and saying how bad US going to go due to Trump administration is not my idea of Accepting the result.

If majority of coutry has voted the other side maybe is because of something.

Maybe news and mainstream media is playing a Game you and the bad ones are not that bad and the good ones are not that good.

I actually was watching videos just some minutes ago and i was listening to the Guy and It strucked to me as a much authentic Guy than kamala or biden Guy.

You just have to listen some minutes Kamala or Biden speaking and its just so full of lies, they speak with this correctedness and falsehood that already lets you see why they have Lost.

Trump might have their negative stuff but at least when he speaks he seems like a Real human, something that has been Lost in politics. Everyone else seems like a politically correct robot.

In fact I was watching previously another video where Trump gets Angry with a reporter because of asking him unfair questions and also calls them fake news and I was thinking damn, which president have the authenticity and balls to do that?

So there You go, probably trump is what US needs, i dont Live there but i honestly think It Will be good for you guys. Dont jump into conclusions just yet.

Some people don't understand yet that Trump will be corrupting by appointing people who are loyal to HIM!

He dislikes the FBI because they have revealed his connections to Russia.

They didn't stage a coup, they didn't align themselves with project 2025, they didn't change fundamental laws to allow a felon to be the highest form of office. You're a fool. A damned fool.

Damn! I hate Dan Crenshaw, but he just came in with a brutal line on Piers Morgan when talking to Cenk and Krystal.

"Now that the election is over, are Democrats still now in favor of doing away with the filibuster and packing the supreme court? Or are those now not part of the Democrat platform?"

They were silent.

Just savage.

Biden packing the court will just lead to McDonald repacking it like he does with fries into his mouth.

However, Supreme Court Justice term limits is not outside the realm of possibility, especially if public support continues to grow, but it would have to be pushed heavily.

Do Republicans still denounce a president with signs of cognitive decline now that Donald Trump is back in office?

I think it's going to have to happen to people to truly realize what they have done. On one hand, I am terrified of it, but on the other, maybe this is a necessary lesson for our society to learn.

This is the first time in American history they have elected to go autocratic, and people need to understand what can be done. There's a sense of hopelessness but there are ways to combat corruption. I wouldn't call that toxic green, more like a mobilization against tyranny. Just sitting there and getting slaughtered is what stage green people should do? Please...
