There are a lot of events that have happened during the Trump era that I thought could break some spells. But he keeps on adapting. He attempted a coup and people were like "whattt guys can't have fun anymore???".

Wait till he starts eating their faces, or those of beloved ones. It will come soon enough.

Fortunately I heard there were procedures put in place by the highest order of the military to shut his ass down if January 6th had actually gotten worse.

It's much easier to thwart the plans of an unprepared, ousted president than to challenge a well-prepared incumbent who is likely consolidating power by appointing loyalists to key positions.

I won't come at you. Good on you for having delicacy and knowing it can be a touchy subject. Even white men dislike the feeling of being shit-talked.

Statistically, white men have voted for conservative candidates more than any other demographic, both during this election cycle and throughout history.

There are factors that lead to this outcome.

Factors inherent to their skin color and genes, though?

Actually, not at all. :)

Any demographic in power would follow the same pattern as white men in our current state of evolution.

This is how the ego is designed. Humans tend to identify with and feel more empathy toward those who resemble them and share similar experiences—until the perceived differences are transcended.

But there are various intersections to identifications. One of them is social class, and that is why some rich white men don't care if you die because you can't afford your monthly 200$ insulin jab, even if you are part of the same group on another level.

And they'll dangle the carrot, telling you that you can also be part of the club, when in fact, many of the elite maintain their positions due to multigenerational wealth.

That's good to know. So it's more a matter of circumstance, and in an alternate reality, we could have just as easily been talking about how black men vote overwhelmingly conservative? Assuming black men had found themselves in positions of power by the same twist of fate.

Democrats are the face of the establishment here. This makes them look unpopular. They will lose ground support for the most basic issues even if they hold power in office.

Trumps victory literally means that the last election wasn’t rigged and that the capitol was attacked for no reason

It's strange to consider and realize that we are alive during the downfall of the American system. We grew up being taught how wonderful it is with its checks and balances, how our forefathers had great foresight.

And yes, as we got older and saw through the cracks of these institutions, we still never believed they could truly be penetrated. And while we did elect Trump in 2016, that could have been thought of as a flirtation with an asshole. We won't bring him into our homes for longer than a quick whirlwind romance before kicking him out.

But no. We welcomed the criminal felon back into our lives. We're allowing this pirate thug to destroy our institutions, cause mass anxiety amongst us, knock down our checks and balances, and rip to shreds the constitution that we were told to believe was sacred.

And by "we" I mean the 55% of Americans. The idiotic, selfish, loathsome bastards.

The voter turnout is abysmal. Half of Americans do not even care about elections or voting.

I was born and raised in Western Europe, and over the last ten years, I’ve been fortunate to make at least a dozen trips to both the U.S. and Canada.

Each time, I am struck by how abusive, exploitative, predatory, and traumatic aspects of this society can be. No offense intended—I genuinely love many elements of the US—but the level of human abuse, hidden beneath a veneer of normalcy, is truly baffling.

Places like San Francisco have the highest concentration of brilliant, well-educated people I have ever encountered. Yet, alongside that, I've had to deal with insufferably ignorant Uber drivers whose ridiculous comments and takes on life have become inside jokes among my friends. I’ll never forget the stark contrast on Market Street, where the ultra-rich buy whatever frivolous items they desire while a mass of unattended homeless individuals live in abject poverty on the streets.

The ultra-predatory commercials and the ridiculous narratives propagated by the media create a pervasive sense of unease, especially when combined with prohibitive college costs. It's clear that without the privilege of significant cultural capital to provide you with essential literacy, survival becomes extremely challenging. Even then, it only equips you with the tools to navigate some of the countless pitfalls that await you.

This country is really brutal in many ways.

When I was in Palo Alto, a venture capitalist shared a story about a video game he created. One customer spent $10,000 on various items within the game. Out of curiosity, he called the customer and learned it was a soldier in Afghanistan or Iraq who believed he might not survive the coming week. He said he never called again to know where the cash was coming from. Exploitation suddenly had a face.

Then, few years ago, I heard that in order to secure a space for one of his son in a very reputed Ivy League, he put his then 14 year old son on a boat to break a record by crossing a whole Ocean alone. The boy had like 1 year of sailing experience and his mother cried for days, fearing for his safety.

Trauma is rampant in this country, and survival has become harder every year. The US is before anything else in a mental health crisis, which explains why Orange Ding Dong is back. No sane people would elect Trump. He is the personification of the shadow, the unattended, unhealed part of the US.

One of the worst aspects of this situation is that anyone trying to effect real change must contend with an army of unconscious individuals who have likely shut down their minds to avoid confronting the harsh reality of social violence hidden beneath their simplified worldview.
