I don't think so. This is on the American people. They elected a felon, a man who attacked democracy and attempted a coup. It's time to start blaming the people.

Electing someone who wants to end elections is the peoples' problem. It's alright though, I hope Trump succeeds in all he sets out to do. Americans need to learn the hard way.

People vote based on the result of their genetics and life experience. We don't have free will. So, this idea that people choose to vote a certain way is incorrect.

If you had the genetics and life experience of anyone in the US, you'd vote the exact same as them.

So, its not on the american people, its on genetics and life experiences.

It's still not impossible for Kamala to eek out a win... not likely but opportunity for stupid profit if you place a bet on polymarket now. Trump still needs another battleground state besides PA or he's at 269 electoral votes.

Yeah I'll agree it's genetics... the IQ points of Americans are far too low. Bred to be sycophants for the rich and powerful.

How can you expect these people to make good political decisions when they can't even read a sentence correctly and understand its meaning...

That would be hilarious

I watched a football game recently and this quarterback on the losing team threw a Hail Mary with the whole game on the line, no time left and his teammate caught it and won the whole game.

Unlikely but possible.  Can’t rule it out after I saw something like that.

Maine's electoral votes can be split which I didn't realize... that single electoral vote would put Trump at exactly 270 and it looks like he got that one. It's over.

My empathy and patience for ignorance seems to be on the verge of permanent depletion. I feel like I’m going to disregard these people’s existence. It’s almost a freeing feeling that I don’t feel obligated to acknowledge them anymore. Not even to allow the thought “this is a fool”. There’s a sort of peaceful feeling in being free from them. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s empowering even. Free from ever having to consider the going ons inside the minds of the ones who, before, I saw as fallible humans, but now prefer to see as inferior fools who are a waste of time to consider and give empathy and understanding to, and who I disregard so much that I don’t even care if they’re taught a lesson. I don’t care if they live or die. Happy or sad. Poof. They just don’t exist at all. That’s what I just experienced. I think I like it.

If truth is the guide, there's no need for ideology, right or left.

Maturity in discussion means the ability to separate ideas from identity so one can easily recognize new, irrefutable information as valid, and to fully integrate it into one’s perspective—even if it challenges deeply held beliefs. Both recognition and integration are crucial: the former acknowledges truth, while the latter ensures we are guided by it.

I am what some people would consider an "angry white male" but I somewhat hoped Kamala would win for the sake of Palestine and Ukraine. I don't care that much about domestic policy since I live in Europe. The suffering of those 2 countries is about to increase, exponentially.

Americans were probably just not ready to have a woman of colour as president. Trump's "concepts of a plan" and similar moments throughout the campaign suggested him not being as sharp as before. Kamala seemed to present herself well and didn't repeat many of the mistakes of Hillary Clinton. Was a lack of aggression really the problem as Cenk said? Or the country just didn't want her?

Trump is also looking good for the popular vote.

Look closer. I don’t expect many to understand.

Yeah, you're not gonna gaslight me on that. The irony to go beyond and be nonjudgemental towards race and sexuality only to discriminate against people's "consciousness" is palpable.

Similar to how blaming the fans worked for Disney and Hollywood . "It's not that our movies suck, it's just that the audience is racist/ misogynist / homophobic/ etc/"

Her own party didn't want her, or at least she didn't go through the proper democrat preliminaries.

It fascinates me how few republicans were able to go and vote for the more libertarian/left measures in my state. I figured there was more libertarians or free thinkers here. That alone provided me some interesting insights into herd thinking as related to our nature.  Even the food tax repeal failed the vote. Fascinating to me.

In the end it's the small percentage of moderates that decide elections, but it's hard to sway hardline party stances as a moderate... people tend to get brainwashed into their "party's" core views unable to pick a different position and whatever party has power tends to run with their more extreme positions when they get power, which of course frustrates moderates because they both come off as nuts.
