As I heard someone else describe it, I'm feeling nauseously optimistic 😅.

I heard that from Robert Reich. 😏

I do think democrats could consistently win elections and pull the country slightly more left / centrist if they did actually actively incorporate traditional masculinity and a platform that caters more towards men. Dems give way too much power to the radical left and culture war voices in their party. I’m talking the liberal arts, feminist, race theory, white men suck voices. I think if trump wins the demographic that showed up to put him over will be men without college education .

While there is some truth to this view, I also think that it's flawed. Masculinity is more than just "Beer, guns, errrrr!!!" It's also patience, acceptance, and ensuring the survival of your group from a pragmatic leader.

I think Obama is a more masculine figure than sensitive divas like Trump and other Republicans.

My theory is trump will win. Not because I’m some maga super fan, but because realistically most rednecks in these swing states don’t care about facts. These white trash/rednecks (no hate to my white friends or people) just don’t care about policy, they are so out of touch with reality that the only real meaning they have in life is their sense of entitlement and superiority over others. They just want some politician to say hateful stuff about all these brown and black people (whom they probably never met or seen in their lives), and trump is that guy. While trump is generally shooting his foot by overly glazing the far right, the swing states are hugely populated with these types. They will determine the election. And unfortunately they will vote trump.

This axios article goes into it more detail, but the tldr is: yes, Republican voting ballots have shifted a bit in 4 years, but based on party registration alone for those who requested mail-in ballots, Democrats still have a sizeable lead here.

That's leaving aside the  non-negligible number of Republicans who requested a mail in ballot, but can't stomach voting for the orange felon. Almost no Democrats will be voting for Trump, on the other hand.

Also, the urban rural divide hasn't changed. Votes for Kamala from Philly and Detroit are going to take longer to process than from the rural areas and small towns that favor Trump.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification.

Remember that Trump lost 2020.

Also: Tim Walz. This is what healthy, secure masculinity looks like.

Remember that Trump lost 2020.

It bears repeating that Trump hasn't won anything since 2016.

His party lost ground in 2018.

He lost again in 2020.

His handpicked governor and legislative candidates lost badly in the 2022 midterms.

When his election fraud case was put in front of a jury, he lost that as well, racking up 34 felony convictions.

Trump is an vindictive, insecure loser.

Yes, to me it seems that Trump should lose, but who knows how much Elon's and Joe Rogan's propaganda did work.

Today will be the day when we find out whether our country's center of gravity is blue/ORANGE (with regressions into Nationalist and theocratic BLUE accompanied by RED corruption) , or ORANGE/green (which is where I personally place Harris and her supporters).

أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن ليو رسول الله

Translation: I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and Leo [Gura] is the messenger of Allah.

Let’s hope it’s the second option 😅

Good way to put it! We'll get some good data out of it, that's for sure.

How high is the chance that Trump would not be too bad after all?

This question comes from daringly naive perspective.

Still I'm curious, how high do you guess is the probability of Trump repeating his first term & how over inflated are the 'doomy gloomy world ends' scenarios people talk about in relation to Trump's potential 2nd term? I mean, he's a corrupt business man, not a Hitler or Putin. I don't think he is interested in WW3 or disasters for his own country. So how bad could it be?

Just to be clear, I would vote for Harris and I understand how bad it could be, I'm just curious how probable it is and how much over inflation of worst case scenarios there is. I'm trying to form a clear sober picture of the actual situation and risk here.

Like should I be packing my bags and flying to Argentina kind of thing...

The first election i was eligible to vote in was 2016. I voted for Hillary. I expected her to win. When Trump won I brushed off his campaign rhetoric and figured it was all bluster. I was so fucking wrong that had I seen the end of his presidency at the moment he won, I would have been shocked and horrified. A second Trump administration would be exponentially worse.

What bothers me is that whoever wins or loses we already know the situation will get worse. A Kamala loss will result in an even worse wave of wokeness and a trump loss will result in a melt down of republicans who will insist it was stolen.

America would be better off if it was a direct democracy where voting was required.

If you can control what thoughts can be expressed but claim your opponents are facists, who is closer to facism?

If you are so afraid of authoritarian facists from ever being in power, why not defend the right to bear arms in case of this future tyranny?

If cancel culture isn't real, why was JK rowling publicly shamed and boycotted for expressing her opinion on gender?

If big tech doesn't serve a political agenda, why do we see a pattern of collusion suppressing conservative content, with twitter files being the most prominent?

Historically, facist authoritarianism:

- controlled the flow of information and silenced dissent such as the ministry of propoganda in Nazi Germany.

- demanded idealogical purity and loyalty to toe the main narrative or suffer social or professional punishment.

- took over eduction and culture instilling a narrow worldview through the a specific lens - which today is progressive

- aligned with corporate power such as Mussolini's Italy

- claims the moral high ground and convinces themselves their the good guys

- claimed to care about the will of the people but sideline popular candidates for leadership which today is what happened to Bernie, Tulsi and RFK.

The left warns of a hypothetical authoritarian right meanwhile employing tactics similar to past authoritarian regimes.

Kamala literally flirted with the idea of mandatory gun buybacks and believes in equity which demands the continuous theft of producers to equalize the playing field. You think a country who's DNA was built on rebellion and being wary of government overreach is going to part ways with their means of protection from government? LOL. Classical liberals wanted protection from the state, and for the state to be in their service. Modern latte chugging liberals want the state to protect them from microagressions. Built different. There needs to be a balance.

Of course there's tons wrong with the left. In their current manifestation, they are horrible.

Is this the right time for that? Given the right features Trump, an unhinged moron - who are you actually voting for when push comes to shove?

To a degree I agree. Tim Walz was one step to improve on this. Hunting, trucks, and football.
