Does the "red mirage" dynamic still apply, though? In 2020, it was talked about constantly in the months leading up to the election, but your post is pretty much the first time I've seen it mentioned in relation to the 2024 election. It seems like Republican voting habits have shifted, at least enough to where an exact repeat of history probably shouldn't be a strict expectation.

Party time!  If Trump loses it will be because he's such a troll. If the democrats lose it will be because of their policies the last 4 years. Just the way they trashed Musk for daring leave their party for being more moderate and promoting freedom of speech.  I'm one that believes that no large group of people should have too much power, that they eventually try to suppress their opposition, and I call out the right when they do it also.  I'm not going to lose any sleep no matter who wins, just observe human nature and support who I believe will lead to the best future for civilization. I don't think that's stage greens. Yellows yes, greens no.  Yellows at least understand that every spiral dynamics level needs to be dealt with at their level of development, rather than trying to force feed green on people who don't want it.

Love this speech with Musk on Joe Rogan, the best so far.

There is a interesting group called vote swap. The idea is if someone who supports the Green Party in a swing state agrees to vote Kamala, then they’ll get two Kamala voters in a solid blue state to vote Green.

It is too late now to gain enough traction to make a difference, but I think this idea has potential.

I’m surprised people like Joe or Elon are going so far in endorsing Trump, if he ends up causing a lot of damage they’ll look really bad and take a lot of reputational damage.

Elon’s turn is an example of how wokeness and DEI bureaucracy behavior is so damaging. Elon wasn’t really political until he bought Twitter and got radicalized by far right accounts, now he lets the platform give republicans a huge advantage and has dumped tons of cash to help Trump.

Except the only reason he bought Twitter was he was salty they censored posts from the Babylon bee back when Twitter was doing a lot of woke censorship.

If the smug liberal HR lady types at Twitter had not been pushing so much of their values Elon would have never bought Twitter, thus never turned right, and thus never joined Trump. They created a major threat to their liberal order just because they felt the need to remove jokes.

538 just updated their prediction model to show 50 Harris 49 trump 1 tie…. This will be super close, I assume same shit as last year with all the protests outside buildings while they count votes, tons of controversies, many made up. It’s going to top 2020 I think and that was next level. Definitely be stocked up on food supplies for a week just in case some crazy shit goes down, who knows.

I do think democrats could consistently win elections and pull the country slightly more left / centrist if they did actually actively incorporate traditional masculinity and a platform that caters more towards men. Dems give way too much power to the radical left and culture war voices in their party. I’m talking the liberal arts, feminist, race theory, white men suck voices. I think if trump wins the demographic that showed up to put him over will be men without college education .

This axios article goes into it more detail, but the tldr is: yes, Republican voting ballots have shifted a bit in 4 years, but based on party registration alone for those who requested mail-in ballots, Democrats still have a sizeable lead here.

That's leaving aside the  non-negligible number of Republicans who requested a mail in ballot, but can't stomach voting for the orange felon. Almost no Democrats will be voting for Trump, on the other hand.

Also, the urban rural divide hasn't changed. Votes for Kamala from Philly and Detroit are going to take longer to process than from the rural areas and small towns that favor Trump.

As I heard someone else describe it, I'm feeling nauseously optimistic 😅.

The momentum and vibes are on Kamala's side, especially as Trump has been seemingly going out of his way to tank his campaign in the last week or so, between his vile racist MSG rally and bizarre photo ops driving around in a Trump garbage truck. The fact that he's already claiming fraud in Pennsylvania is indicative of the fact that he's expecting to lose this must-win swing state

But the stakes are too high for me to feel comfortable.
