Spiritual purification via meditation

18 posts in this topic

Hey folks,

Am looking for resources on the subject of spiritual purification via meditation.

I want to know what sort of thing hardcore meditation will and will not help with.  Would be interested in learning about this in respect of longer meditation periods, i.e. 4+ hours per day, rather than shorter periods.

Meditation is taking away rather than adding more. It undoes more than instils. It simplifies and rolls back all the accumulated garbage. It peels away the layers of what you think you are. It makes you innocent and natural and authentic, a grounded individual not a carbon copy. I did 4 hours a day for several years, it helped realize all this. I know much less than when I started. Life is simple and I look not to know but to feel. This place is incomprehensible by design. I watch thoughts visiting but stay in the awareness of them and the awareness of anything else passing by. Nothing of the world can touch me. I am the one who put it there. The work is to watch. And accept all as good and right exactly as it is. There are only two things: expressions of love and calls for love. I engage accordingly. All is well all around no matter what the news or folks are saying. I am at peace. If oddly I feel disturbed I set my timer for 5 minutes and return back to the stillness center.

Used to do hour thirty every day. A lot of purification simply for having to handle everything bubbling up, making you try and get up. Still, nothing beats psychedelics. Meditation is a good foundation to start with and something to fall back on, but don't expect it to take you very far.

@Ulax Vipassana works good for purification. Contrast it with do nothing to get the expansive side at the end of each session.

Complement it with kundalini/kriya yoga and it will speed up the whole process

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

@Davino @Ero Thanks. Was more looking for understanding of what sort of mind stuff will be purified in the process though. For example, will it purify things like shame & depression?

That's it. Nothing more is needed. Everything else is tuxedo's on a suit. Life goes on, joyful learning goes on, knowledge goes on, whatever people do goes on, respecting others goes on, relating to others kindly and lovingly goes on, society goes on and trying to impact the world through whatever means goes on.

Once you can do all that and everything else from the place you mentioned above, one will be peaceful and be at ease with whatever comes their way, even through the challenges. Don't have to look for ways to cope or need outside sources to feel fulfilled. Peace and fulfillment is already the case and all that needs to be done is to see the world for what it is.....a shit show. Just joking, but you get the drift - the stage show that it is.

Oh, I understand. It certainly can work but it's not the most efficient way. For example with vipassana you would be deconstructing shame and depression on a microscopic, sensation level. Bringing awareness to the actual mechanics and feelings that you put in the box of shame or any other emotion.

Other methods are usually more direct for treating emotional disturbances. Like classic therapy and shadow work. Reading books on psychology and basic self help.

Psychedelics can also be very helpful but they need to be used skilfully.

I would recommend all the above simultaneously. That's what I do. As well as getting outside my comfort zone and be willing to experience all of reality head on.

@Ulax I respect the idea of meditating for so long, but don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do it. I don’t know what you mean by purification but there is trauma healing, meditations with filling yourself with positive energy. Going for a run and trying to not think is even a good meditation.

I was to say specific ones that I’ve tried and found them to be very effective. They are.

1. Inner smile.
2. trauma healing (Leo’s video).
3. Microcosmic orbit.

4. meditation on the breath.

Also understand that every idea you have that is negative is wrong. Really understand this point the “greatest thing that could ever possibly be. Is the only thing I’ve ever possibly exist.”

It’s true how much you know this life can be better.

Depression is very varied it’s hard to say why someone is depressed and many different different meditations can help with them. Probably you should just research online and try some out, but you actually have to try for like a few weeks for real change to happen.

While in meditation If you noticed that thoughts are not coming as much, but the feeling of depression is getting worse then that is very very likely just a sign that you’re boiling out of the depression.

Think of every possible way to try out cure depression and try it! Chemical, physical, spiritual, mind healing, therapy.

@Ulax sorry, I should’ve explained myself. This is just the process of depression leaving but for some reason it decides to act up more while leaving. I’ve been depressed for long periods in my life, but I don’t have it at all anymore. I think without a doubt it was definitely because it was boiled out.

Okay, I get you.

Did you boil it out via meditation? Or just you noticed this boiling out occurred naturally?

I have considered them but I have a lot of trauma in my history. So honestly I would be afraid of suicide.

I would like to get my vipassana practice better first. I practice vipassana multiple hours a day but still struggle with more intense emotions.

I do a range of healing work too, i.e. depth therapy.

@Ulax Trust the process. These things take time.

I encourage people to expand their ideas of what meditation is and isn't, and what kinds are available to you.

Bhuta Shuddhi is a whole system of yoga based on the purification of the 5 elements. This purificatory process helps one to achieve a state of harmony and balance, enhances the capability of the physical body, mind and energy, and creates the basis to gain complete mastery over the human system.
