I play chess better when I'm high.

It feels like my mind is being scrambled somehow.

I don't know what to do about it. Constant negative emotion angst and rumination. Preventing me from even being able to use attention with any semblance of efficacy.

This affects my life in general in very drastic ways. Has been the case since adolescence.

If I do weed or psychedelics my intuition skyrockets as well as calculation in chess, working memory etc.

Need advice.

The  reason I use the chess example is because it's a tangible controlled environment that has made me keenly aware of this problem

ADHD medication also fixes this

Are you 100% sure about this? I've noticed a night and day degradation to cognitive acuity, focus and reaction times

@LoseYourvelf Yes.

I was dubious as well because it could be purely subjective.

But the statistics from my games when high versus sober show a clear and major difference.

Consistently much lower centipawn loss 20-30 (versus minimum 2x that). Elimination of moves that are blunders.

Wowzers. Can i ask.. do you think you're an outlier or can you see how weed would generally compliment chess strategy

Could this only be evident at your current MMR or playstyle, if you were lower or higher or playing differently could it make games less consistent

Does the weed-chess give you any insight into your sober game

What advice do you need? Seems like it’s working for you.

@PenguinPablo Seems like you just need to make a schedule regarding which pill you take and when. Why not do ADHD medication 5 days a week, and then weed two days a week. That way you won't build too much tolerance to your ADHD meds, and you will also not be miserable on  the two days off.

It’s probably because being high can increase concentration and decrease activity of the default mode network.

try detox dudes and unified mindfulness.

Perhaps there is something else there.

I know for certain if I was getting in a plane with a pilot who said "I fly better stoned" I would not get into that plane.

Your original post was more positive about your experience, and now that you’ve edited it it’s more negative. Interesting…

I have similar experience with weed. When I digest marijuana, I’ll have these deep insights just strike at me like I’m enlightened, but none of it ever sticks. I do n’t know what to think of weed honestly, I don’t think it does anything for me spiritually.

Your case though is interesting because I’ve never heard of it making someone be able to do higher calculations while being high. I really don’t know.
