Limitations Of The Human Mind.

People often believe that even if the human mind is limited, the tools we create with it (like AI) can overcome any limitations and allow us to understand the whole universe.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that:  
1) The universe is not infinitely small, and we have discovered the most fundamental particles in the future.  
2) We have infinite time to study these particles and access the resources we need.  
3) We stop evolving biologically during this time.

Imagine we place two fundamental particles in an isolated system we understand completely, with no outside influences. Would we still be unable to predict their behavior? We might have all the data, but it could still appear random and defy our understanding.

This scenario is plausible because our minds are limited by their foundational concepts. Logic connectors like "and" cannot be broken down further. While we can create alternatives, they are still based on these existing concepts. 

What are the odds that our evolutionary-derived notions are suitable for understanding the entire universe? They work for our Earthly environment, but that’s just a tiny fraction of what exists. 

It seems arrogant for humans to assume the universe follows the same logic as our minds. I also find it ridiculous to think AI can solve everything; it can only create combinations of existing data, not invent something entirely new.

I don’t think that is possible. I definitely believe our limits will increase and consciousness will rise, but there will never come a day when humans will have no limitations.

Limitations are necessary for existence. But to you it will appear limitless.

 

Your mind right now is too limited to even fathom the limitations of future minds. Understanding the physical nature of the universe will not be one of them.

Formlessness and Form are both limitations, without form, there's no experience,
but too much focus on specific forms will also close trap yourself in that experience.

I don't think limitations in regards to how the physical universe behaves will exist the way you think of them right now.

Reality is fundamentally infinite. There is no fully understanding it, unless you yourself are infinity.

Yes. This is the undecidability principle in all Turing-complete systems. No matter how much time or computational resources you have, you will fundamentally not be able to know both the exact position and momentum of those particles. You can only infer a probabilities. In the context of particles, this is a fundamental theorem in QM (Known as the uncertainty principle).

Thank you. It is always about probabilities and never really a true answer, which is very interesting. I don't understand why the universe is this way; it seems absurd and not fun.

How can humans truly know anything when all information is being filtered through the brain which is itself a filter.
