How Do We Know That We Are Loved?

24 posts in this topic

How do you know if you are loved? How does the other person treat you? Do they make you feel small and stupid, or interesting and accomplished? Do they support your ambitions or celebrate your failures? Do you trust them with an embarrassing secret? If you called them at 3 a.m. because you were stranded at a closed mall due to your own foolishness, would they come to get you?

The end of separation is the end of desire. It’s life, it’s death, it’s unity; it is the absolute. In this profound realization, we find perfection eternal, a state of everlasting harmony.

If we love ourselves. We only get from people how we see ourselves.

Be aware of being. Be aware that you are. Be aware of Self. Self is Aware of itself.

This is TRUTH. I AM!... and there is no other.

I'm talking about others. I don't want to hear about non-duality in this topic. Or do you mean that if we love ourselves, others will love us?

Yes, I'm not speaking about non-duality. If we love ourselves, we will see others love us back in proportion to that. We cannot expect from others what we haven't given to ourselves.

I like the idea, but I don't think it's entirely true because there are many people who are confident and love themselves, which can make others jealous instead of giving them respect and love.

I'm not referring to this. I'm not speaking about how others are being perceived by onlookers. I'm speaking about romantic relationships. Maybe be clear on what type of relationships you're referring to or just generally speaking.

Also, not showing respect to someone who shows love to themselves isn't a bug it's a feature because on the flip side what you're seeing is a case of how you react to that. How does that make you feel and does it diminish how you feel about yourself. You will double down on your self worth if their disrespect and jealousy doesn't  change how you feel about yourself and you understand that it's about them not you.

Idk, I don't look to be loved, I look to be love. Sorry if my words sound woo woo and all  but I cannot change who I am and my way of thinking and being is being reflected in my writings and it's just what's coming out.

I believe you must love yourself first in order to love others. You can't give love if you feel like you're not receiving love in return. It's important that both things are present, not just one. It becomes healthier and more genuine that way.

Psychedelics. But many would consider that cheating. And it’s difficult to love a cheater.

Love is complex, but so are hallucinations.

Love is a feeling of mutual understanding

it’s not all bound to ego or how good they make you feel. To love someone is to say “okay” to challenges you normally wouldn’t. It also doesn’t necessarily mean you have to accept them either. That’s more of each partner’s choice. The difference is you are actively choosing, communicating, and rotating the table. You grow together. I think it’s important to see if the room is fruitful before baring any fruit. Meaning it’s important to look at the location before planting a tree. So these are questions that are necessary to ask, but ultimately no one is perfect. And I think personally people are usually stuck on this whole idealism of a “perfect man” or a “perfect woman” that’s not love. It’s a superficial idea of what it is. Shit happens, constantly. Regardless of it being due to your own fault, or the universe causing something out of the blue happening. Sometimes someone will come to help you, majority of the time you are left on your own. So it’s important choosing someone who would choose you, even in an unfavorable situation.

That's a great comment, but how do we know who would choose it? Is it possible to love someone without fully understanding or accepting their true nature?

Watch their actions.
people can say they choose you, but ultimately words fail. And their motives are shown through actions. It’s also important to learn about their true nature before hand, and to understand how it makes them who they are. Showing up for you unexpectedly is a good sign. It’s not mandatory, but someone who loves you would. Consideration is key.

You’re absolutely right! Actions speak louder than words.
