This almost made me homosexual.

The end of separation is the end of desire. It’s life, it’s death, it’s unity; it is the absolute. In this profound realization, we find perfection eternal, a state of everlasting harmony.

His stare is the absolute masculine stare a woman enjoys in her beautiful romantic dreams. His expressed his masculinity so perfectly through that stare and so subtly. He nailed it damn.

Unfortunately, these guys only exist in our fantasy, except for me, of course.

Does this work for the everyday regular guy?

Of course the handsome man in a Hollywood costume drama is going to be alluring to anyone he is staring at.

It's how he stares. That's a skill, pure skill. You don't even have to be handsome for it. Any guy on the street can do that with enough practice.

I was never very attracted to Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. Both he and Kristin Stewart do too much umming and uhhing in Twilight and it feels like forced attractive awkwardness... even though I find them both pretty attractive in other contexts.

But a few years back, I saw an ad with Robert Pattinson that raised my eyebrows a bit. And I watched the ad like several times in a row as it tapped into some kind of intriguing Masculine expression. It doesn't hurt that it's to a Leonard Cohen song.

I watched it now, and it didn't have the same kind of magic as when I first saw it... probably because the version of him in this video is younger than me now (though he's a few years older than me in actuality) and my taste in men has become unaligned with this imagery. But it might still be interesting to share...

I think Edward and Bella come across as stiff in Twilight because of how the characters are written and how they’re acted. Edward is a vampire struggling to be close to Bella without hurting her, so he’s always holding back and being careful. Bella, on the other hand, is an awkward teenager who’s overwhelmed by everything, so she also seems uncomfortable and cautious.

Then there’s the way Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart act, which is pretty low-key and sometimes feels almost awkward. Pattinson has even said he didn’t always like playing Edward, and that might have influenced how he played the character. It’s like they’re both trying to create a quiet, intense chemistry, but sometimes it just feels stiff instead of engaging.

Also, Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the books, saw their relationship as impossible and really complicated, so there’s a lot of tension and uncertainty between them. Their love is supposed to feel dangerous and overwhelming, which probably adds to why they seem so stiff in some scenes.

The end of separation is the end of desire. It’s life, it’s death, it’s unity; it is the absolute. In this profound realization, we find perfection eternal, a state of everlasting harmony.
