Text should be reserved for rare and profound statements, mostly. That feature is their appeal. 😉

An insight I had while watching the video on Voodoo in Benin: stage purple culture use deities to ground law and order.

Reality is essentially epistemological anarchy. You can believe anything, regardless of the truth of it. There are no “objective” truths written in the universe that could not be denied or challenged. And this presents a deep challenge for organizing human survival.

Who is to say whether we should cut down the mangroves or not? And why should your opinion be the right one? What if someone else has a different one?

This is a recipe for chaos and dysfunction.

Thus, human societies do two things to ground law and order:

1) Appeal to some sort of higher authority

2) Enforce that appeal with violence

You have to do both of these things, because just one is not enough. Without the appeal to a higher authority, you have no way to justify law. And without violence, someone could still always just disagree. So force is necessary.

Modern liberal democracies do with the power of the judicial / legal system. You appeal to a higher authority (in this case “laws” that have been passed by government) and back it up with state-sponsored violence (police, national guard, military etc).

But in stage purple societies, courts do not exist. And there really is no need for them to, given the size of these tribes vs modern nation states.

Instead, law and order is grounded by appealing to the higher authority of supernatural deities. This solves a big chunk of the problem of epistemological anarchy, as there is now something considered beyond human opinion that we can point to and say “this is what’s true”. And of course it is still backed up with the second criteria of threat of violence.

It really is an ingenious survival strategy. But of course in order for this to work, people must actually believe in the authority of these deities. Everything hangs on this.

Thus, challenging the existence or authority of these deities would not just harmless critical thinking. No! You would be potentially threatening the entire survival strategy of that culture. It’s that serious.

@aurum Excellent!

Purple tribes also have the role of elders who serve as judges for adjudicating disputes. So they have a primitive informal court system. You can see it in my blog post about Taliban courts:

The appeal is that your blog posts seem written for you, like a diary. You write for yourself.

In the Forum you write for others, for others to understand. It's not a reflection of your inner world and thought process.

It's this temporary access to the workings of your mind that appeals the most of the blog texts.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty. We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Virtuous and Conscious. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life God is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, ... Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

My very personal perspective on the blog:

I like text and quotes compact with information the most, videos can be very time consuming and distracting which is why I often prefer simply the forum over the blog as I get exactly that. And I initially subscribed more for the spiritual and practical self help aspects - politics, sociology, technology, .. are all important as well but not as interesting to me and at the pace at which Leo discovers them hard to follow.

LOL I love that last post. I couldn't agree more with the "barbarian" comment. A good pair of nail scissors is truly the way.

@What Am I Lol, thought those ones are too pricy for my tastes I did throw a cheaper pair in my cart. Sorry Leo.

But, if you want a quality pair, and aren't a cheapo barbarianino like me, Leo's look good.

Why nail clippers?

I love nail biting, especially the toes.

It is like a workout/meditation training.

He's promoting a high quality well rounded, multi use product. Can't do pickup with nasty nails.

Okay, I need to take a break from this forum. Nightio.
