How to deal with Hashimotos?

100 posts in this topic

I'm at my wits end. I just can't stabilize my thyroid, it keeps acting up.

Taking iodine will cause insane irritation and inflammation in the thyroid. I feel better for a while and then symptoms get worse and worse. But I also just feel terrible without iodine.

I tried all the things to try. Selenium supplementation, which for a while I thought had helped, and dozens of other things, but it keeps being unstable.

It's beyond frustrating, even something as simple as the weather changing from summer into colder weather just is putting me completely out of balance, with severe symptoms of depression and all the other ailments that come with Hashimotos.

I tried things like probiotics too, and various supplements, as well as dietary adjustments. This is by far the worse problem in my life.

You have to state what your diet is like. Saying dietary changes isn't enough. Excessive iodine intake can also lead to overstimulation of the thyroid.

I asked you to give more detail on your diet. Sometimes we think we're doing the better things when in actuality welre not. I maybe able to help in this regard.

I tried various diets, but I'm limited to plant based.

When you truly need help and can be more detailed, maybe I can help, but not from such limited answers. I will not put effort into trying to help someone who shows a lack of effort themselves. Good luck.

You should not be taking iodine if you have Hashimotos. That's only going to make it worse. Iodine is a treatment for non-Hashimotos thyroid problems. That doesn't apply to you. Stop taking iodine.

This could be promising.

Stem Cell Therapy for Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism

Could cutting-edge stem cell therapies be the treatment you need for your thyroid condition?

And with that said sometimes you do find a solution.

@Scholar @Leo Gura I remember reading Sarah Rose's book on Ayurvedic recipes, and in the first chapter she talks about how she was eating healthy and doing everything but when she met with this ayurvedic indian doctor in India the doc is like you're completely out of balance (doshas).

What if you tried turning to some eastern medicine masters in India or china? I know people who have been able to connect with some experts in India with successful results, maybe you can consider that. They might be able to see from certain paradigms of your health that you're not seeing perhaps.

You could probably connect via zoom or something online.

Like Leo I remember you said you saw a psychic once I think, and that person predicted stuff to your surprise, so maybe one of these eastern medicine masters would surprise you.

Maybe if western solutions aren't working, you can try those. I don't know if it'll work but it's worth a shot. But I wouldn't give up, I know it can be hard. I and you guys have had countless times where we think there is no solution, but some time later we are surprised to find a solution.

Also on a very side note, AI development is on an exponential rise, and healthcare is already transforming, so who knows what solutions will open up in a few years time or up to 5 years.

Just cause Western medicine don't work doesn't mean Eastern does.

@Leo Gura to say either of those "doesn't work" means you tried every solution out there, which is not possible. Doesn't increasing requisite variety apply here? Being more nuanced than the problem itself?

I for example never thought tinnitus was curable from my research, until you found a solution.

I also quit this business 5 years ago because I thought there was no solution to fix it. I restarted it 2 months ago with a solution to the problem 5 years ago, and its working. I too said there is no solution for years.

Maybe in some cases there really is no solution but acceptance. I'm not sure though when that exactly applies though.

@Jayson G It's not possible nor good to try every solution because you can waste your whole life on a wild goose chase. At some point you have to stop looking for solutions and accept your situation.

Many health problems have no solution. The universe doesn't owe you any solutions. Sometimes everything you try will fail.

Have you thought of asking AI about the solutions?

Ironically, AI right now is not up to date properly at all with the latest developments in AI. For that you'd have to go watch latest videos and news and get newsletters and stuff. Even some books have.

But if you're talking about just health solutions in general, I have used AI for that and have gotten a lot of benefit out of it. It's important to have nuanced conversations though.

@Leo Gura Yeah I see your point there. There are trade-offs from endlessly pursuing a solution. I recall this one person who spent decades, I believe, trying to decipher this Egyptian thing. He did it at the end after a long while, but he did sacrifice on a lot else.

The problem is that I only feel well when I do take iodine, but only for a period of time until the thyroid gets inflammed, which is most often a few days or a week until that occurs.

The thyroid does need iodine to function. Do you take no iodine at all? To me it seems like levothyroxine does not completely replace what the thyroid is doing. I read that there is a problem with the balance between T3 and T4, or whatever, and the one levothyroxine replaces is not as effective as the secondary type the thyroid produces.

And it seems to me like taking levothyroxine itself, especially at like 100mcg-1250mcg rate, has it's own side effects, like increased thirst and heat intolance, despite my blood not showing that I would have too much hormone.
