This is a notice for everyone who posts:

We are cracking down on people who post without proper punctuation and capitalization. Properly capitalize your posts and titles. Use proper punctuation in your sentences. Use proper grammar.

I will be handing out warning points to people who chronically refuse to capitalize and punctuate their posts.

Make sure that you properly capitalize your title when starting a new thread. Do not make all lowercase thread titles.

To Mods: if you see people posting without proper punctuation, capitalization, and grammar, send them a private message informing them to start doing it or they will receive warning points in the future.

Be mindful that English is not the main language for many and punctuation rules vary greatly among countries.

Having said this, I recognise the need for certain quality standards in writing and I support the measure as long as it is proportionate.

@Davino We will be much more forgiving of grammar because it's a function of English mastery and I don't expect that from foreign speakers. But lack of capitalization and punctuation is just laziness and sloppiness.

@Leo Gura Lack of capitalization is more universal. Punctuation it depends, it can be clearly seen when it's due to laziness. However, I was surprised when learning that Italian rarely uses commas for guiding the flow of the sentence as it is expected from the reader to have the skills to decipher it. So I used to write tons of commas and took me quite some time to learn the Italian punctuation style. It's the same with English, it has its own rules of punctuation that differ from other languages quite a lot. This is just to stay that mods should distinguish sloppy writing from cultural gaps.

I always check when I can. In fact I'm very grateful for Actualized.org as it has been a great source of motivation to improve my writings. It helped me in putting down complex thoughts in a cohesive and structured way.

I am not asking for academic-grade stuff here.

Just basic capitalization and punctuation from elementary school.

Basically, if it looks sloppy and lazy as fuck, that's my issue. We will not be doing grammar Nazism here.

To be honest, I do get it, it's a real issue not to be able to tell what exactly someone is saying.
And there are also tons of long posts without any punctuation, especially trip reports.
Then again, I've been responsible myself for many of them half a year ago.
I do like short sentences switching to a new line instead of a dot however 😁

FYI, if you cannot properly capitalize a thread title, don't expect any quality employer to hire you.

Small details like that matter to serious people because professionalism and quality matters in all lines of business. Sloppiness and laziness screams low quality, low standards, low self-respect.

So for the sake of your careers I hope you don't type to your employers and clients like you do on this forum.

My English education, from 8th grade to university, was trash.

I've been teaching myself via the internet. There are lots of resources available.

Although, for me, everything is a resource. 😁
