I just dislike the whole vibe of anime. It strikes me as so juvenile. I don't understand how anyone likes it, but I know you guys do.

I watched a bit of the original Pokemon anime when I was a kid. But that's just cause I liked Pokemon.

I am opposed to the entire genre of anime in the same way that I am opposed to grown men playing Dungeons & Dragons.

But hey, that's just my bias.

@Leo Gura Ironically, I think it's the West (especially Hollywood) that has a juvenile attitude towards animation as a whole. Any attempt to make a serious animation gets turned down in favor of dime-a-dozen cartoons with obnoxiously bright colors filled with Marvel-tier comedy quips for kids.

My eyes do not like it.

But also, I refuse to watch anything with superheros and pretensious ninja combat or martial arts. I can't stand that stuff. All that Kill Bill shit. I just can't.

I can't stand the juvenile aesthetic of the bulk of anime, but I'm a massive fan of anything geared towards more mature audiences like Monster, Berserk, Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell SAC, Cowboy Bebop & Serial Experiments Lain.

These are a dime a dozen though, 90% of anime is horrendously shallow and no amount of exceptional artistry and animation can make up for the laughably flat dialogue and nonsensical stories that plague most of the medium and has also infiltrated itself into the various anime-isms seen in Japanese video game series.

I've watched hundreds of anime over the years since I was a child and do honestly still enjoy it purely for its artistic merits and mesmerising animation, but anyone who tries to claim that shonen stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen, Bleach etc. has any nuanced storytelling or well written dialogue is kidding themselves. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it though, I completely get why people are entertained by run of the mill shonen, but I cannot fathom how anyone enjoys the chibi looking high school dramedies with cringe af goof out moments and highschool English class level dialogue, especially when you're in your 20's and beyond.

As far as Anime, is concerned, it's all one soup of shounen fanservice power fantasies for Leo
Sure, you can try to "broaden his horizons", but it's as futile as talking to a religious person

Death, Love, and Robots is amazing. Some of the best animated stuff ever. That's the kind of style and aesthetic I like.
