I recently watched some of the new releases this week. I watched the new Donald Trump biopic "The Apprentice" and thought it was really good, like 9/10. Really showed the evolution of trump and the influences that led him to who we know today. Also so entertaining that I had to see it twice

I Also watched the new Francis Ford Coppola movie "Megalopolis" and it sucked ass. I understand the idea of it and how its kind of about tech billionaires who want to create a utopian society, but it just felt way too pretentious and was also extremely boring. 3/10

@Leo GuraOh yeah, watch this. Watch it tonight. Watch it ten times.

Joaquin Phoenix is the best.

You'll learn what acting is through him, it's accurate replication of energy patterns from other people and history imbued with life and transmission and meaning.

Also you can watch Joker and Joker: Volie a Deaux. The second one is hated because it's not at all a comicbook superhero movie, it's an actual movie, and people hated it for that. It's about very explicitly the difference between fantasy and reality, which is why people hated it. It is not a movie for the mouth-breathing masses.

I don't watch anything with superheros or musicals.

I just told you it doesn't have superheroes.

The director Todd Phillips said, "It's kinda a musical, but it's kinda not a musical." Which could be an indication he had no idea what he was doing, but still.

Isn't that kind of close minded?

From beasts we scorn as soulless, in forest, field, and den,
the cry goes up to witness the soullessness of men.

The Substance was just insane and also thought provoking.

Terence Malick films like Thin Red Line and Days of Heaven. Super contemplative and visually beautiful with existential themes.

I know what it's about.

Joker is a superhero and I want none of it.

I literally told you it's not a superhero movie.

Joker is just literally not a superhero.

Those two films are psychological character studies rather than comic adaptations. There's psychological realism, social commentary aspects, complete absence of supernatural elements, complete absence of "heroic" elements, Todd Phillips' directorial approach, and Joaquin Phoenix's method performance.

@The Crocodile You are acting like I don't know what the film is about.

I rarely watch films these days. Only something exceptional or interesting. Most of them don't interest me.

Solaris and Possession are two spectacular Soviet movies I recommend everyone watch. Tarkovsky is considered one of the Goats. Zulawski also deserves recognition. This is cinema at its best - deeply philosophical, without the glitz and glam of Western hyper-consumerism.

@Leo Gura Yes, your understanding of what's in the film is questionable. I think it would break some of your boundaries. Also I originally suggested watching it for Phoenix, not any specific content.

I watch reviews for all these films. I know what's in them.

Don't you think this is weird though?

Giving away your opinion to someone else. A reviewer.

'I don't like chocolate because this chef doesn't'

You can't possibly know what you do and don't like if you haven't experienced it.

I guess the superhero theme thus pollutes the flavour for you so much you are repulsed it could be presented in a way that is delectable.

I do not like sweet flavours, but the right combination can delight me

Leo has not watched reviews for either of those movies and he's just being a lying drama queen.

Otherwise he would know Arthur Fleck is not a "superhero".

Just watched Hell or High Water and it was brilliant. That final line of dialogue, combined with the ending shot? That's gonna stick with me forever.
