How to make sense of technology?

53 posts in this topic

I seriously don't understand how someone could go from random pieces of metal and whatever else to a computer screen  for example or chat gpt ..AI and quantum computes and so forth . Or a processor or any of that stuff. How did they know it would do that? How do parts have the abilities to be programmed to do that?

Also how  are cities and roads and factories and electricity etc work ?what the process of engineering is like? like how engineers create something new ?and how they use their knowledge(math.. and science.. and physics etc) in creating them?

What books should i read to get a grip on these matters ?

This is not a troll post btw . I seriously don't understand. Haven't taken any course on physics and engineering in university. So yeah .

It's very good to have this sort of curiosity. I have the same. It's nearly impossible to get a good grip of every aspect of humanly knowledge but we can build general understanding of things. I have decided to develop expert knowledge of 2-3 areas. I suggest the same for you. You can get started by using AI chatting for general and specific information.

Yeah, I'm a cool person.

Thanks .

Yeah I'm definitely should be spending more time developing academic understanding of the era I'm living in . I remember when Nokia mobile was a thing in the beginning of this century I used to ask my dad how on earth can two people talk with each other with billions of kilometres distance?  😂.

I like what you said about using GPT . I'm trying to use GPT to understand GPT. I would ask it how come you exist?

What do you expect the answer will be 😅?

See how easy that was ?🤔

Rock hard, take a rock, smash things, thin rock sharp, ooh it cuts things, mash things together, spear

Screen made of LSD LEDs, make circuit with logic gates, combine them, experiment, make interface

Thinking is technology, think, think hard, think about thinking, think away the thinking, solipsism yay 😁

Well, in case you did not comprehend my metaphor regarding the emergence of technology in ancient human tribes through the realization of the applicability of tools, represented by the versatility of rocks, whose properties suit the opposable thumbs humans evolved with to complexify the use of any technologies in an efficient tactile manner, that sets humans apart in terms of technological use, to begin with, my second example gave you some hints to connect in a mnemonic type of way the generalities of computers simplified to the interactive components they are made of, including the logic bridges, which if you cared to google, all of the hardware is centered around in the type of information relay, technology is advancing by the design of the architecture through, nevertheless even that example was quickly overshadowed by my third paragraph of your own use of language in the signifier/signified intelligent morphological mind patterns, which is the system unravelling itself as a strage loop, very much an endogentic technology.

Technology is not external, we use the external patterns to evolve ourselves by the means of explicit space, but such is only given through the context enabled through the innate metamorphic software that is the human interface we abide by since all technology necessitates the driving perceptive force that creates, finds or recognizes it, in order to advance itself. Computers are actually really simple, only one or two handfuls of holarchies to explain the systematic encoding of interactive layers of information, just as fractal encoding determines the shape of plants and living organisms across all layers in a holopsynetic balance.

Nevertheless, you might be addressing the root of technology, which is of course just like intelligence, nothing more but a pattern-recognizing consciousness that chooses to experiment with and assemble different parts into a holistic integration, which is always best managed by outsourcing the details across the holarchies are creating autonomous and self-automating embedded spaces, essentially holons or organisms of greater stability, generating selves, technology is God playing with Infinity, Intelligence is a relative notion to describe the configuration, complexity, dynamicism, efficiency, and self-awareness of the system at hand.

Now eat up your bananas and contemplate for yourself seriously.

 i didnt understand a thing .

It's easy to string together a bunch of complicated word salad of buzz words with jargony technical mumbo jumbo dressing for the salad.

I can do it if I want to . But I won't.  Because I'm authentic.  You seriously need to work on your authenticity.  Don't spout intellectual meaningless text walls out of your banana-craving mouth .

Anyways..There seems to have been extremely quick advancement in technology in recent years (AI is in every single thing these days ) but my main question is if you go back a few thousand years then humans were just as intelligent but there was nothing like the same advancement every year. What was it that needed to be in place for all this advancement to occur?

I could talk about agriculture & societal developments, but your ego is too dense for all that

So I'll outsource it to this video, and with that I'm gone, keep having fun being "serious"

@Someone here For resources, I suggest Kuhn's 'Structure of Scientific Revolutions'. It gives a nice framework for thinking of the general direction of technology/science (they go hand in hand, hence the term 'STEM')

My two cents stem from my current contextualization through the paradigm of 'Chaos, Entropy, Order'. Science is fundamentally our generative model of the world per the Free Energy Principle (attr. Karl Friston), aiming at minimizing our 'surprise' from observations of the world (equivalent to maximizing entropy - postulate 2). Technology are the fruits of this model - once you understand a system, you can influence/control it. The examples are numerous. By gaining new levels of abstractions (postulate 3 - Order), we can make sense of the apparent complexity around us (postulate 1 - Chaos) and turn it into something useful.

To sum it up, in the words of Arthur C Clarke - 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magick'

Difficult to understand.  I'm a total noob in the feild .can you please tell me how do we go from manual machine to discovering electricity and how was the internet and computers developed?

Thanks I will read that book.
