Why have so many Republicans flipped on Russia?

It used to be the biggest enemy and the red scare and blabla.

Is it because they see Putin as a Christian right winger?

Or is it because they’re scared of WW3 and are trying to get a wedge between Russia and China to not get nuked (which will never work btw.)

If critical thinking was their forte, they wouldn't be Republicans.

They are masters at self-deception, and easily turn on anything that isn't conform to the party line.

Yes, if they had spoken to him about the conflict as a fight between "the Ukrainian resistance fighters of European culture against the Russian neo-Bolsheviks who do not hesitate to send Chechens against the Ukrainians", they would have sided with Ukraine.
They do not have a solid ideological backbone.

He puts too much trust in Trump and the US imo.

Although it’s good to act calm and collected with Trump and MaGa imo instead of just turning it into a back and forth fight/argument or start to panic.

Zelensky got cold feet after seeing how shaky his European counterparts convictions were when it came time to bite the bullet and send their own to fight in Ukraine.  Now he’s trying to patch things up with the US..

Italy and Poland have among the most troops in the bloc and are against fighting alongside the Brits and French who are foaming at the mouth to take on Russia. 

Europe is like a centipede with each nation being a leg. It only takes a few to move in a different direction to cause the centipede to halt or creep too slow due to friction.

Political will is a key element in sustaining a war, let alone starting one. Here we have a house divided against one mostly unified in Russia.

Do you really think that the French and the English are going to die in Ukraine? Macron is a fool, he believes in the great colonial France, and it hurts him a lot to be displaced in Africa, but that is already a fact, and not a single Frenchman is going to freeze in Ukraine while they throw bombs at him
