Dude your brain is rotted. I lived in Russia for over 3 years. Almost every Russian with a decent education and job wants to leave due to corruption, pollution in the major cities and weather. It’s a total police state and you can be drafted to the army if you’re a young man. RT has rotted out your mind with conspiracy thinking and evangelical thinking about this place. Russia is a shell of an empire that wants to be great again like the USA. It’s cold and unbelievably corrupt, not a single higher value is served by the state when it’s as corrupt as it is. Half the people there are poor and don’t enjoy their lives. The culture is great though and life isn’t bad everywhere there. It is an alright place, really not that worse to live compared to the USA if you have okay money but it’s none of these special things you have listed here. It’s an autocratic police state with little opportunities to go places and go upward if you aren’t in the top 1%

I see now why you are in your own hell. You need to get out of the city and see the world. Your confined to the matrix that has you trapped within it.

Give the long-term foreign policy of the US, post Yeltsin, to seek the strategic defeat, containment, dismembering, disenfranchisement of Russia, obviously to funnel trillions in resources back to the west with their neoliberal policies, would you be in favor of such policy or not?

This is the same foreign policy that made US rich in the first place, at least had a lot to do with it.

More wealth means more development especially food security, fuel security and everything else. I mean this is the developmental direction of states according to SD right? I also remember you saying that the reason lower developed states are targeted is because they are lower developed than their higher developed counterparts.

How does all this factor in dictating the foreign policy of the US?

Well articulated. The efforts you put in your writings is commendable.

Thanks man, likewise. Agree on your points regarding the paper tiger. The thing is Russia / China having hypersonic provide the asymmetrical edge to tackle a otherwise mightier militarily that outspends them x number of times.

It's a special military operation with limited objectives namely

People’s initial reaction is to say this is false because of the blatant act of invading another country. But it reminds me of a saying  “China is a socialist country with Chinese characteristics”

If we apply that same framing to capture the nuance of Russias actions it would be “Russias actions in Ukraine resemble a military operation with the tactic of invasion” - it’s a tactic but not the totality of the story.

Someone can be aggressive (the one who finally acts outs ie Russia or Hamas) but not the aggressor in the situation - the one who provoked with a thousand cuts.

It is an invasion too, but that does not make it, not a special military operation.

The invasion has limited objectives, least of what they are interested in is land grabbing.

In the Ukraine situation the initial aggression started on 2013 Nov. From there on, Russia responded and here we are right now.

The elites running the country are not dumb. They are smart. But when they say seemingly stupid things, it is often the case that they know something more than you.

I have racked my brain for hours for why the west paint Putin as the boogeyman when there is no obvious threat from Russia. Literally Zero. This goes against all common sense. They constantly say Russia is a paper tiger and then they say they are scared of Russia invading Europe lol.

Unsurprisingly, the answer is, as always private interests of the defense industrial complex. They always wanted to get EU to spend more on the military.  They are actively manufacturing consent from the gullible public for the insane defense spending which is already over the roof. They do not want you to have proper heating in your house and good health care rather need more bombs and missiles to fight against boogeyman Russia.

This is why they do not really care about the Ukrainian people either. This is why Boris Johnson sabotaged the peace talks on April of 2022 asking Ukraine to fight on. This is literal blood money they are playing with. Such rotten state of the world we are living in.

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/12/20/7490081/

They are going to soon push EU nations into an insane 5% of GDP on defense spending when most nations are barely spending 2%. This is coming at a time of already great economic struggle. This eerily feels like US are the present-day Soviets. They are going to militarize themselves to death.

Are you are saying that because this is objectively NOT a special military operation? Genuinely trying to understand here.

OH well, I guess you are right. Especially considering that over 500k people might have lost their lives.

Bobby: What is the meaning of a special military operation?

A "special military operation" is a euphemistic term that gained prominence when Russia used it to describe its invasion of Ukraine beginning in February 2022. The Russian government specifically chose this terminology instead of words like "war" or "invasion," and made it illegal for Russian media to use those terms to describe the conflict.

The phrase itself is an example of militaristic euphemism - language that deliberately downplays or obscures the reality of military actions. Other historical examples include terms like "police action" (used for the Korean War) or "pacification" (used during various conflicts).

From a linguistic perspective, such terminology serves specific political and propaganda purposes by:
1. Minimizing the perceived scale and intensity of military actions
2. Creating a sense of legitimacy and limited scope
3. Avoiding terms that might trigger stronger emotional or legal responses

This terminology choice also has practical implications within Russia, as it relates to military mobilization laws and what actions the government can legally take without formally declaring war.

Bobby: Do you think it is accurate to describe what is happening in the Russo Ukraine war?

No, "special military operation" is not an accurate description. It's a deliberately misleading euphemism that obscures the reality of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine, involving extensive military operations, civilian casualties, territorial occupation, and widespread international ramifications. The more accurate term is "war" or "invasion," which better reflects the scope, intensity, and nature of the conflict.

I should note that my knowledge of specific details and developments in this conflict cuts off in April 2024, so while I can discuss the broader context, I cannot speak to current developments.

Bobby: Did the US intervention in Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq carried such connotations?

Yes. Similar euphemistic language was used in these conflicts:

Vietnam: Initially called a "police action" or "conflict" rather than war. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution avoided formal war declaration.

Afghanistan: Termed "Operation Enduring Freedom" - emphasizing liberation rather than invasion.

Iraq: Labeled "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and "liberation," with emphasis on WMDs and regime change rather than invasion.

In all cases, terminology was carefully chosen to shape public perception, justify military action, and avoid the political implications of formal war declarations.

Bobby: So do you agree that all of this served the same purpose: To downplay the scale of war where hundreds of thousands of people have died?

Yes. Whether used by Russia, the US, or other powers, euphemistic military terminology serves to:
1. Minimize public opposition
2. Avoid legal implications of formal war
3. Control media narrative
4. Distance the public from the human cost
5. Maintain political deniability

The consistent pattern across these conflicts shows how language is weaponized to mask the reality of mass casualties and destruction, regardless of the aggressor nation.

Claude is quite impressive in how it convinces me fr.

In all do seriousness, the creation of Taiwan was a case of American geopolitical interference which should have never happened. Mao wanted to conquer Taiwan but the U.S. Navy interfered and president Truman threatened to nuke China.

Taiwan has as much right to determine itself if a place like Crimea can vote to be annexed by Russia.

No, it was the result of Chinese civil war. Americans didn't create Taiwan, a Chinese government faction relocated there while fighting against the communists.

Of course Americans supported that capitalist faction, because communism is stupid.

@Leo Gura

That is precisely what I meant.

After the Chinese civil war, the Nationalist Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan.

Mao wanted to invade the Island, but couldn’t as the U.S. Navy was placed strategically in between the body of water between the mainland and Taiwan. Also Mao had to deal with the Korean War, so manpower how to be directed towards that theater.

@Husseinisdoingfine Yeah. It's a hairy situation. It is odd that the US is mixed up with Chinese affairs. But also communism is bad. So here we are. Cold War Jr.

What this war revealed is that Russia is a paper tiger. Can't even take Ukraine without losing 500k men and crippling their economy. Never mind Poland.

That is a NATO funded Ukraine with the best weapons in the world, cooperating with the West in terms of intelligence 24/7, getting 200 billion a year worth of financial aid from the EU and weapons from the US, insane strong morale to fight, heavily fortified positions, high death toll from Ukraine too and Russia is still to do a full mobilization (meanwhile Ukraine may be forced to remove draft age to 18 from 25).

So it is not "Just Ukraine".

If it was "Just Ukraine" the war would have been over a long time ago.

Which is why they are so scared of loosing USA s aid from Trump, they know on a pure 1vs 1 Russia would wreck them.

Obviously Russia is no match for NATO as a whole, that much is clear.

It would be wrecked in a war with Nato unless it resorted to nukes.

But to just say "Russia cannot even take Ukraine on its own" is laughable Western propaganda which I am tired of hearing.

@Karmadhi  But realistically any war these days will be a proxy war funded by some superpower. This is just the nature of war these days. Most any place Russia would invade would get US aid.

Same with Taiwan and Middle East issues.

Any war with Russia is going to be a battle of attrition, fought face to face and NATO will lose.

Russia has more artillery and simple things like that is going to make all the difference.
