We seem to normalize things once they've happened, and especially when they've happened more than once. I bet this recent attempt was much less shocking to everyone. I wonder what our country would look like if political assassinations became an expected norm.

Not to be pedantic but an attempted assassination is not the same as being assassinated. If trump was successfully assassinated it would be huge news. But yeah, I think people would eventually get used to assassinations if it became the norm, like with school shootings.

No doubt, a successful assassination would be much more impactful, but the prerequisite for every successful assassination is an assassination attempt. For them to become normal and even joked about in the public consciousness, an actual success could just be a matter of time.

It doesn't seem like this event will be given its appropriate reverence. Even less than the previous one I'm guessing. It's not inconceivable that the next name you see on the news could have a (D) next to it instead.

Nobody. . . ?

A case could be made that some people deserved to be killed. For example, if someone broke into a home and started shooting at the owner - many would argue it's justified to shoot back and kill the intruder in self defense. . . As well, the majority of people support the death penalty.

I think you're jumping the gun too quickly on this one. The child in the video giving his impatient opinion is probably not the best arbiter of truth. Especially when you can see him slipping in his ideology wherever he thinks it'll fit. His whole reason for making the video seems to be that of political strategy rather than any honest recounting.

Probably best to wait and  see where this all lands, imo.
