Seeking Guidance: Balancing Career, Dating and Spiritual Growth After Years of Travel

Hey Everyone,

I’m seeking some advice on what to do with the next few years of my life. I’m 31 and have been traveling for the last two years after completing my PhD. I spent 9 months at Sadhguru’s ashram and have been backpacking since. I feel like I’ve visited the places I wanted to see, but I’m still interested in dating, which seems to be easier in Asia. Beyond that, I’m not sure I have any strong reasons to keep traveling.

Logically, I feel like I should return to Europe to advance my career as a Data Scientist, as I’m concerned about having a long gap in my CV. On the other hand, I’ve been volunteering remotely as a Data Scientist for an NGO for the past two years, so I haven’t completely disconnected from my profession. Financially, I’m in a position where I could continue traveling for a few more years. I also feel like I’ve explored my career enough for now and want to focus on mastering other areas of my life, with dating being the most important to me at the moment. Unfortunately, I don’t feel as successful with dating in Europe as I do in Asia.

I’ve considered working abroad for the experience, but the salaries aren’t enticing enough, and I wouldn’t have enough free time to pursue spiritual practices or explore other interests. I’ve even thought about something like a shamanic apprenticeship, which might align with my spiritual goals.

So, I’m at a crossroads. Should I play it safe, return to Europe, and focus on my career for a while? Or should I pursue something different? I’m just not sure what the next step should be.
