I actually feel pity for Trump. He could have done a much better job exposing Kamala's weaknesses. All he did was magnify how unfit, unhinged and checked out from reality he is. The guy is just not okay.

Call it a career, bub. Relax and enjoy retirement. You had a good run as a polarizing figure for so long, take the money and run.

What I don’t like is seeing progressives jump on this narrative of how “obvious” it was that Kamala crushed Trump, when really they’re just looking at it from their progressive POV. Which includes how they think average voters behave.

Critique out of the way, I do think it was Kamala’s night. The baiting was real and Trump walked into it perpetually. She slammed him on Putin and he slammed himself with fake election nonsense. Definitely one of his worst debates, while she looked ready.

My guess is she will get a decent polling boost from this + Taylor.

That’s valid point.

Harris did fantastic last night, but I am somewhat disappointed that she didn’t get way more than 63% of people who watched it to think that she won the debate according to the CNN poll. 

When Hillary Clinton won her first debate against Trump in 2016, she also convinced about 63% of voters who watched it to think that she won that debate according to a CNN poll back then. Trump back then wasn’t nearly as bad at debating as he has been this time around.

True, but I’ll take my own sentiment analysis over some poll. The poll is useful data, so it gets included, but you can use google trends, track social media influencers, msm, cope levels, etc. all sorts of stuff you can do to get data to inform your opinion.

If it doesn't move a significant amount of likely voters, then I wouldn't be surprised.

Debates have very, very rarely made any difference in the outcome of any presidential election. Biden dropping out after his poor debate performance was an anomaly in US History.

The poll ain’t gonna answer how normies were swayed. The psychological impact is subtle and cannot be measured by their polls. This was undoubtedly in Kamala’s favor.

However, it's still mind blowing how many undecided people who watched that debate were still undecided.

As pessimistic as this may sound, my dad says that he think thats those people who watched the debate and are still having trouble deciding between a psychotic evil old bastard and an inspiring colored woman in her prime who is so eminently qualified for the job of the presidency, means that they probably are still too racist, too sexist, and too backwards to vote for her.

I hope my dad is proven wrong.

We’ll see. It’s still an open question.

But this is why I keep trying to emphasize not just looking at the debate from a progressive POV. It will skew your interpretation.

There should be nothing mind-blowing about realizing that last night was not enough to move many undecided voters.

Have you ever watched people slowly accept a new idea, which is usually how new ideas are accepted? It doesn’t happen in an instant.

It takes around 20 or so times of hearing a Spotify ad before it really starts to work on you. What are normies doing right now? They’re not making up their minds. They’re being influenced. Little by little. It’s near impossible for this debate to not boost Kamala because her campaign is objectively on point. No need to wait on a poll.

Why would a significant number of decided voters change their minds about who to vote for, especially in this day and age when the political climate has become more polarized and calcified than ever before since the antebellum of the Civil War.

  What I do want to do add - is I don't think it was the moderator's job to fact check Trump, but of Kamala's. 

I can see why the conservatives are outraged - it's a debate between two candidates, and that was clearly not the moderators' jobs.

To fact check one candidate and not the other (even though Trump said a lot more inaccurate things than Kamala did) is clearly not right.
